“Readers and writers should not deceive themselves that literature changes the world. Literature changes the world of readers and writers, but literature does not change the world until people get out of their chairs, go out into the world, and do something to transform the conditions of which the literature speaks.”
This book is the community read for my town this year. So far I‘m finding it thought provoking and bracing.

Cuilin Fabulous quote. Great choice for a community read. Stacked. 8mo

@katcalvin I saw your Litsy call out in the conclusion and here I am to brag!

This is a fantastic book about the complications of acquiring IDs in the USA. I was aware this was an issue, but not how big an issue it actually has become since 9/11. Please, please, please read this book! Funny and informative. #socialjustice #citizenship

katcalvin Thank you!!! 10mo

A woman claims Blackfoot as her nationality at the border between Canada and the US and neither side knows quite what to do with her. Easy to read and a thoughtful look at how we view ourselves.

I really loved this. It features an unconventional family. The story generates an opportunity to make a prediction, as grandma's actions are implied in the illustrations and ignored in the text. It would make a great intro into data collection for primary kids. The dog names are adorable, my fave: E.B.

4.5 stars for this middle grade book! The two main characters are lovable! The friendship issues are relatable. The food descriptions are mouth-watering! I only wish that the lessons on racism/prejudice were less on the nose- they were already naturally part of the story.

My #recipeinstory book for #autumnbingo2022

My daughter isn‘t a huge fan of books, so I‘m going to try the good old Pizza Hut way.

1. My books are loosely arranged by genre, and proximity and “look”.
2. I have bookshelves in every room of the house except bathrooms. Kitchen shelf is small and barely counts. Images are two of my brothers shelves. He also has books in every room, and since I‘m visiting I borrowed his shelves.
3. Can it be read? Is it interesting? #nohate
