Witch Week | Diana Wynne Jones
post image

I got a shipping notification from eBay the other day and was like hmm, what did I buy during my summer heatwave induced bout of insomnia this time?

The answer was this edition of Witch Week! I love it but I‘m very hopeful for some cooler nights and some deeper sleeps! Otherwise who knows what other parcels will turn up?!

LeeRHarry 🤞for some cooler nights, the exhaustion is real. 🥱😴 2w
Rissreadswithcats That poor boy in a shoe storm! 2w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Rissreadswithcats, I might have to reread to see if it‘s a deserved pelting with shoes… 2w
CarolynM Sounds like a good use of wakefulness to me 😆 1w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @CarolynM, I don‘t always exercise my best judgement in these late night shopping sprees 🫣 doesn‘t look like I splurged on any rare editions tho (several have been book marked) 1w

Some days my decision to wait until there‘s enough DWJ books to buy that I can qualify for free shipping weighs more heavily than others (I already have the complete Moving Castle trilogy)

Always a joy to read. Love this world that the author has built.

What do bad karma and constant changes brought about by someone manipulating the multiverse have in common? Conrad‘s about to find out. Another Chrestomaci reread with my husband. I love the way things come together throughout this one. I didn‘t remember anything about this book other than “why?👁️👄👁️”. I‘m very glad I reread it. #Fantasy #MiddleGrade #Multiverse

Kenyazero My husband really enjoyed the way this book shows how getting away from a manipulative, terrible family helps you discover your own power, and often times the greatest power is supportive friends. 13mo

The time has come to pull this absolutely, gloriously, cursed cover off…

The longer you look, the more questions you have for the artist

keithmalek No! Don't do that! 1y
GondorGirl This cover looks like it was painted by someone who had never seen a cat. Or a human... 😅 1y

Obsessed.

I‘ve got one more frame / book cover to go…

GondorGirl This is such a neat idea! 1y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GondorGirl, Thank-you!! I love DWJ covers but often the paperbacks are pretty mangled and I have the new editions so I don‘t really need an extra reading copy… and this way I get to enjoy them daily. (edited) 1y

Mehso-so

Jones creates a school full of loveable and hateable students and tells this story in an interesting manner. I liked it a lot better now rereading it with my husband, but didn't care for this when I first read it as a teen. It's an interesting entry in the Chresomanci series. #Witches #Magic
