Is anyone else a bit meh about the #botm #booksoftheyear ? I‘m pretty underwhelmed. There were so many other good picks!

marleed Ohh, I read all but This Tender Land. DJATS and Recursion were 5 star reads for me. 5y
8little_paws oh totally. I read some great BOTM this year but they weren't part of BOTY. I'm still bitter they dropped the NF BOTM. 5y
Skyrimir @marleed I need to read DJATS for my book club! Maybe I‘ll get Recursion. I‘m leaning towards This Tender Land too. 5y

Skyrimir @8little_paws I didn‘t even realize they‘d dropped that! That‘s annoying. 5y
marleed Did you see DJATS just won the HF genre in GOodreads by nearly 53k votes? Oh, and Recursion won in SciFi. I‘m not a SciFi affectionato by any means but still gave it all my stars. 5y
marleed Haha. And the Silent Patient garnered the most goodreader votes in Mystery, as well. 5y
Skyrimir @marleed lol, I think my gripe really is that I have almost all of them already, except for A Woman is No Man and This Tender Land. I wasn‘t a huge fan of Dark Matter, is Recursion better? 5y
marleed Ohhh, I get it. Boy I read Dark Matter because I liked Recursion. I found them similar so I think it might not be a good pick for you. I also read a Woman is no man. I liked it but I was completely distracted by how often chai was mentioned (I think I lost count at 7,682 - joking - but a lot.) 5y
