Bailedbailed

In fairness, I started reading this right as I was moving, but I kept putting it off to finish other books and realized I just wasn't that into it. I'm indifferent to most sports (except you, dear soccer!), so I need something that captures the humanity of the story (like The Boys in the Boat). Not enough of that here.

Cinfhen Oh no! I read this one and it was crazzy pants (edited) 6y
ferskner @Cinfhen ooooooo that sounds good! Will add to my TBR 6y

What a story! I almost avoided this book due to some of the lackluster reviews, but I am so glad I gave it a try. Brown did a masterful job of detailing the journey that these 9 boys & their coaches conquered to become Olympic champions. It is a beautiful reminder of the tenacity of the human spirit as well as the rewards of good old fashion hard work 💪🏻 highly recommend!

Cinfhen Great review!!! And congrats on finishing your first prompt 💟glad it was a pick 7y
kspenmoll Wonderful book - read it for bookclub in October so need another Olympic book for Booked 2018. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘m about 25% in, but finished my distraction book (Fire and Fury) so I‘m back to it! And thank goodness. 7y

I don‘t know much about baseball but I liked this book a lot. There‘s so much more to it. It‘s about friendship and failing, about fear of one‘s future and willpower.
Highly recommended!

This one I started last year but finished yesterday. That means it can count as a ‘book involving sport‘ for #PopSugar2018, as well as #LRC and #Booked2018 (#BookFeaturingAnOlympicSport)

Kalalalatja Looks so cozy! 7y
Cinfhen Loved this book! It surprised me as well 💚congrats on finishing your first book 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Right on target for a #booked2018 year! 👏🏻👏🏻 7y

Some of the #redandgreen #redandgreenbooks that are high up on my tbr. I plan on using the tagged book as the #booked2018 prompt #bookfeaturinganolympicsport 🚣🏻‍♂️

Ps. This little winter diorama is the closest I'm getting to christmas decorations this year 😂🎄

L_auren Have you read The After Party yet? 7y
Cinfhen Your little diorama is sooooo cute ❤️💚❤️ 7y
Reviewsbylola I want to read Boat too but @Cinfhen gave it one star I think. 😬😬 7y

Reviewsbylola I really want to read The After Party!! @L_auren 7y
Cinfhen Ha!!! I did🙈it just dragged for me.... but it‘s an #unpopularopinion @Reviewsbylola 7y
Cinfhen One star was probably a little harsh.... 7y
Reviewsbylola 🤣🤣🤣 I may still give it a shot @Cinfhen I will wait to see what Emily thinks. 7y
L_auren @Reviewsbylola I LOVED that book when I read it mid-2016 but never really saw that anyone else did! 7y
RebelReader @Cinfhen Read this for my book group. I'm with you on this one! It took me forever to slog through. Some people in my group loved it so much they had read it more than once?????😬I did learn what a precise and demanding sport crew is though so I gave it So-So. 7y
Cinfhen Thank you @RebelReader 🙌🏻I read it for book club too and EVERYONE was raving!!! I think I was unfairly comparing this book to Unbroken, so my expectations were way up!! 7y
alisiakae The Underground Railroad is a great book (although does seem to have its detractors, but I loved it!). 7y
emilyhaldi No @L_auren I haven‘t read After Party yet! @Reviewsbylola has been hounding me to get to it for months so she can borrow. Glad you liked it bc I haven‘t heard much about it either!! Too bad about Boat @Cinfhen @RebelReader 😬 That makes me nervous... but our opinions have differed on books before so who knows! 7y

Because 9 challenges on Litsy just isn‘t enough, I thought I‘d share this one I spotted thanks to @brookerhi 👍🏻It looks like fun, so I‘m jumping in...The #FirstReadofTheYear in 2017 was this YA by Meg Abbott, which I did not enjoy, way to YA for me and it didn‘t read true enough. It was for #popsugar17 #BookAboutASport if you are participating in #Booked2018 this works for #BookFeaturingAnOlympicSport 😀Its about competitive gymnastics 🤸‍♂️

emilyhaldi So many challenges, so little time!!! I have to start thinking about my first read of 2018 - @Reviewsbylola takes her first read very seriously and I think she‘s right. 7y
Reviewsbylola I‘ve joined this on GR every year. I take my first book very seriously. @emilyhaldi @Cinfhen 7y

Mdargusch I have this book picked for #booked2018 and I like ayA, so I‘m hoping I like it better than you did. 🤞🏼 7y
Mdargusch Is there a GR group for first book @Reviewsbylola ? 7y
Reviewsbylola There‘s usually a GR event created by the blogger that runs the challenge. I‘ll invite you once it‘s posted. @Mdargusch 7y
Cinfhen I think you'll like it @Mdargusch I was being super critical because of my niece who is a competitive skater... 7y
