I purposely check out lots of picture books with people of color in them for Juliet. (I try with Eleanor too, but middle grade stuff is harder to find!). Rachel Isadora's books are some of our favorites - she retells fairy tales and classic stories (like Old McDonald's Farm) with African or Asian characters. And then "Let's Go Around the Neighborhood" is a book left from my childhood, about a little girl and her mom running errands. #bookednesday

#bookednesday!! (One day late, oops) Have I already shared this one...?? I can't remember. But it's incredibly sweet; about a little boy trying to build a cave to read books in. We check it out often. 🙂

It's time for #bookednesday! We all love this math-y, cute book. (And all of the Charlie & Lola books!) But in this one my 6yo relates to Charlie and my 3yo relates to Lola, and we all liked counting along on their trip to the store. 🙂

The typography in these books is so fun too - but they don't make great bedtime reading, in my opinion, because the occasional twisty lines of text are so hard to read in dim light! #gettingold 😂

#bookednesday - our picks for this week! Juliet loved "This Book is Not About Dragons", and the mouse who denies dragons, even as things go up in flames around him. Eleanor loved "The Princess and the Packet of Frozen Peas" about Prince Henrik, who wanted to find an outdoorsy princess, and finally found one who used a packet of frozen peas to ice her hockey injury, so they lived happily ever after. ? #raisingreaders

Starting a weekly picture book recommendation with a group of FB friends, we're calling it #bookednesday! Figured I'd share this here too - it has super cute pictures, amazing typography, and a fun plot - where the other animals have to sneak past tiger. It's interactive, asking the reader to pet Tiger's belly when she starts to wake, blow on Mouse's balloon to help her soar over, etc. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
