This was another #auldlangspine2024 from @BennettBookworm and was a lovely gentle read. I really liked how our main protagonist Meg had a full life outside of the love interest - rich yet complex female friendships and a hard earned creative career. As someone bit obsessed with signs and fonts I loved the game Meg and Reid played wandering the city looking for interesting and lost typeface it was like a private world in the city

Julsmarshall Kate Clayborn is a favorite author of mine. I love all of her books 😍 2w
BennettBookworm I‘m so glad you liked this! Yes, I felt like their game sounded so fun! 2w

My God, this book is magnificent! I had literal chills by the end of it. A sprawling work that encompasses multiple genres and centuries and characters, with entanglements and intersections that move forward and backwards and demonstrate how we are all connected to the environment and to history —and it to us. This would have landed on my #AuldLangSpine2024 list if I‘d finished it in time, @JoeMo

dabbe This has been on my Kindle for a while; I must get to it after reading this lovely review! 💚❤️💚 2mo

eskoch28 Ive wanted to read this forever! 2mo
DogMomIrene Sounds so good! Stacking. 2mo
Amiable @eskoch28 @DogMomIrene It‘s constructed almost like interconnected short stories/poems/letters/etc. that refer back to each other. Spans more than 400 years of the history of a plot of land and a house, and the effect that the people who live on/in it have on the property. It‘s like nothing I‘ve ever read before. It‘s magical! 2mo
Amiable @dabbe @AmyG Ha ha, this might call for a new hashtag: #bulliedbytheAmys 😄 (edited) 2mo

Before embarking on #AuldLangSpine2025 with my new reading partner @JoeMo , I decided to read one last book off the list from my #AuldLangSpine2024 partner @MallenNC . 🙂 I enjoyed it ! As much as I can now enjoy books about global pandemics caused by viruses that originated in China, that is. 😖 I even wanted it to continue. I don‘t know what that says about me. 😳

@monalyisha

MallenNC This one was so interesting to me! Glad you liked it. 3mo
Amiable @MallenNC I know it came out in 2018, but I'm not sure I would have liked it as much before 2020. Having lived through a pandemic really added a whole different layer to the reading experience! It was simultaneously satirical and horrifying. 3mo
MallenNC @Amiable I agree! The parts about her keeping on working as the pandemic got worse and worse really resonated after experiencing that in real life. I read this because it was featured on The Stacks podcast, if you want to hear discussion about it. 3mo

Amiable @MallenNC Ooh yes! I love podcasts for my commute. Thanks! 3mo
sarahbarnes I felt the same way when I read this one, also after the pandemic. I liked it a lot. 3mo
DogMomIrene Just read the description and this sounds so good. Not sure if I‘ll read it soon or hold onto it… because, ya know, the next pandemic 🤷🏻‍♀️ Will need dark humor. 3mo
Amiable @DogMomIrene It's a quick read, too. In case you want to read it now and then again during the next pandemic. 😬 3mo
DogMomIrene @Amiable Good to know!😂😬 3mo

This was such a brilliant fantasy. The world building was phenomenal & the storytelling was thoughtfully paced. It was so interesting following Kai's quest to find answers in the present, balanced by the story of the past which revealed more & more of his and the world's origins.
This book was on my radar but I was hesitant to dive into such a sprawling fantasy. I'm so glad Sarah put it on her #ALSpine list, which encouraged me to pick it up!
