3/5⭐ I like that the book has tons of journal page examples, includes some specific recommendations for materials, outlines different reasons for keeping journals, and encourages readers to just dive into keeping their own journal. However, the examples are all done by talented artists, which is a bit intimidating for those of us who can barely draw a stick figure let alone a realistic panda. Much of the text was repetitive and generic.

I need some recommendations! I'm in a slump, I feel like I've read every book that fits my taste although I know that's not possible. Basically, I have read every new release thriller that is not a crime thriller or police procedural (I hate detective novels that extend into huge series). I'm not only a fan of thrillers but my taste is in domestic or psychological in that genre. I would love to get suggestions for Literary Fiction as well. Help!!

brittanyreads Hi! I recently was in a slump, too. I picked up this thriller and so far (I'm halfway through) it's been good! Have you read it yet? 2y
brittanyreads Also, I haven't gotten around to starting them yet...but I hear amazing things about Freida McFadden's books. I believe they are mostly standalones. 2y

dabbe @BookLineNSinker Beautifully done. 🤗 2y
dylanisreading How do you feel about horror thrillers with supernatural elements? I just read and loved Malice House by Megan Shepherd. 2y
BookLineNSinker @dylanisreading I'm open to exploring that. I'll definitely be putting on my TBR list! Thank you for the rec! 2y
BookLineNSinker @dabbe thank you so much! I just finished an optical illusion line drawing today that I'll post in another thread! I haven't really posted my art work on here before but it makes for a cute background! 2y
BookLineNSinker @Enchanted_Bibliophile I think I read that one and enjoyed it! 2y
Bette Wake by Shelley Burr was good, Long stretch of bad days - McGinnis, Missing Clarissa - Jones 2y
Chelsea.Poole Have you read anything by Jennifer Hillier? She‘s my favorite thriller author. 2y
Chelsea.Poole I also really liked this one 2y
Chelsea.Poole Literary fiction, character driven, and a favorite 2y
BookLineNSinker @Chelsea.Poole thank you!!! All of these sound great! I like Hillier Aldi but I've only read her newest book so far! These are am great suggestive from everyone!! @Bette did you like Long Stretch of Bad Days I think I have that in my Libby library 2y
Bette Hey! I really did like Long Stretch…the author puts two very different girls together (one has a mouth on her…but her outbursts usually had me laughing, I don‘t mind swearing) so I found it very engaging. Good characters, interesting mystery, I tend to like cold cases. 2y

4/5⭐ Another good journal book from Gwen Diehn. I really appreciated the way it balances practical step-by-step instructions with inspirational examples. It covers a wide range of journal content topics and binding/cover methods, and infuses personalization on every page. #bookspinbingo #bookspin complete! @thearomaofbooks

TheAromaofBooks Oooo this looks fun!!! I have a bit of a journal/notebook addiction 😂 3y

My hastily assembled bouquet which will be the last one of my summer flowers. Had to try and save some before it snows tomorrow (sigh) 😔. This book is a little overly complicated regarding artistic tools, but it does give lots of ideas on how to broaden your ideas and try new things. From rubber stamps, to sketching, or making intentional coffee stains, lots of inspiration for the taking!

4/5⭐ While it is a little intimidating for a beginning crafter because of all the recommended tools and art theory (given the author's art background), the author does a fantastic job of making it all understandable. I like the way the author portrays journaling as a mindfulness experience and offers concrete methods and examples depending on the creator's goals.
