Hey! Looks like all Agatha Christie books are $2 today- which ones would you recommend? I‘m not going to get all of them but want to try out maybe 2 or 3, as I‘ve never read anything by her🙂📖

Librarybelle My favorite is And Then There Were None, which is more on the thriller side of mysteries. But, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is good. Incidentally, a group of us are reading through Christie‘s mysteries and starting with the first one, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Discussion on January 26th. Everything‘s posted through #ChristiesCapers . 5d
Cailey_Mac @Librarybelle oooo thank you! And omg really?! I might have to try to join- I love reading groups☺️ 5d
Librarybelle I‘ll add you to the list! Jump in and out whenever you like. Some are reading each title, and others are reading when they can. 5d

DGRachel I‘m going to add my vote for And Then There Were None. It‘s my absolute favorite of hers and one I reread frequently. 4d
Cailey_Mac @Librarybelle yay thank you! I‘ll deff be in and out as I read slow, but it sounds fun! 4d
Cailey_Mac @DGRachel sweet thank you!☺️ 4d

Pickpick

This is the first Sparks & Bainbridge mystery that I‘ve read, so I was playing catch-up with the characters. That aside, it was a very enjoyable read. Set in postwar London, the titular characters are trying tie a new crime to an old series of robberies. The plot is pleasingly complicated, the history well drawn and the characters are interesting. The only bad news is that I now have a new back list to read, but I‘m looking forward to them.

Aims42 You‘re in for a treat reading the previous books, they‘re so fun! I love the banter between Gwen and Iris 😆 5d
CaitlinR @Aims42 Thanks, looking forward to reading them! 3d

The good news is this was a compelling and interesting story. It‘s 1922 in St. Louis, and the MC gets inadvertently involved in investigating the murder of a player for a local Negro League team. He finds out more than he expected about the racism and violence of the KKK and segregation. There‘s also a little personal crisis in his life.

The bad news is I can‘t find the next installment. Not insurmountable but inconvenient.

Life is tough for Ben, returning to Salt Lake City, after a divorce & leaving his teaching position, to help his father run their board game shop. Things only get trickier when a shady game collector ends up dead on their doorstep.

This was cute, but what I liked most about it was my love for all the real locations, (also the BYU shade😅). The pace felt too slow, & Ben was not an engaging narrator. I did like the 2ndary characters!🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

Kenyazero I love finding books that aren‘t amazing but we‘re still fun to read! 1mo

Pickpick

First read of December goes to Between A Flock and a Hard Place. We picked this book for our book club at work because we wrongly assumed it was about Thanksgiving. It ended up being a fun enough read though. #WinterGames #XMasChaCha

Airykah13 @liseworks I saved a few word searches on my phone, are those worth 10 points as well? 1mo
StayCurious @Airykah13 hi! Sorry not sure what you mean by that. Can you clarify? 1mo
Airykah13 @StayCurious sorry I think I may have saved them from somewhere else 🤦🏾‍♀️. They‘re holiday themed word search games - the themes are Winter Romance Books, Winter Murder Mystery, LGBTQIA+ Winter Romance, and 2025 Anticipated Reads 1mo
LiseWorks @Airykah13 this word search is only for the books you read during #WinterGame24. So, you have had to read them now during Dec2024. Does this clarify it? 1mo
Airykah13 @LiseWorks no I was talking about screen shots on my phone where you have to find the listed words. I think I may have saved them from another December game I‘m doing. Sorry for the confusion! 1mo

This had moments of great potential but Ben was something of a wet blanket the entire time and Ezra, while sweet didn‘t have enough personality to be a particularly interesting character.
