I decided to clear my stacks - I have a record of read books on storygraph - I am starting over with my “to read“ choices. I realize in the past 4 years my tastes have changed and many of the books I thought might be interesting to read end up being DNF or I just don't pick up to begin with - so I plan to be more mindful of books I put on my TBR list 🙂

This felt good !! Make a great day everyone - 📚

Jari-chan I did the same. It's so liberating! 5mo
Bookwormjillk I‘ve been thinking of doing the same. I have my reading history on LibraryThing. I also want to make a backup of all my reviews. 5mo

Wow this is a bleak read but totally immersive! About half way through and can‘t put it down. I‘m always in awe of people who can write a first novel that is this good!

I think this book was mentioned in another I read about running. It tells about the authors journey through alcoholism and running as a means of healing. The book tells about different races he ran while also telling personal stories from his past. Enjoyable read.

5/5 ⭐

In entrambi i libri che ho letto di Douglas Stuart ho apprezzato soprattutto la sua capacità di scrivere personaggi estremamente complessi e comprensibili al tempo stesso.

In both books of Douglas Stuart that I read I appreciated most of all his ability to write characters that are at the same time extremely complex and understandable.

The message in the 2nd volume in The Spirit of Denendeh graphic novel series is that it‘s never too late for redemption and that the prospect of leaving a legacy to be proud of can carry us forward to a better future. The portrayal of Fort Smith is impressively realistic—it‘s rare to see NWT communities in fiction. Tlicho cultural traditions & beliefs as shown are interesting too. Dynamic art and an inspiring story: I recommend this! #Indigenous

Nice to see this Easter egg: Lacey takes a brave step in her life and she is carrying a copy of Helen Knott‘s memoir, In My Own Moccasins.

Oof. This is brilliantly written but my God it's bleak.

keithmalek I just finished reading "A Little Life" by Hanya Yananihara. Do your best! Nothing will faze me now. 11mo
Ruthiella True that! 😢 11mo
arlenefinnigan @keithmalek I've seen a lot a reviews comparing this to A Little Life! So beautifully written but so unremittingly bleak. 11mo
squirrelbrain A Little Life is worse IMO. 11mo

I love discovering new-to-me authors and that‘s exactly what happened with this novel. I was hooked on this story from the very beginning! Ann‘s writing is engaging and fascinating. She made me fall in love with her characters. Hildy Good is a well-respected, successful real estate agent. Her adult daughters organized an intervention because Hildy drinks too much. We meet Hildy upon her return from rehab.

Interesting second memoir from Burroughs. I read running with scissors years ago, but don‘t remember it very well. This one was a good. His style is easy to read and it is interesting. It chronicles his ups and downs in his recovery from alcohol and drugs. I ordered three more of his more recent books.

Scochrane26 I‘ve always liked this one better than Running with Scissors. Think it helps people understand addiction & treatment, even though it‘s an older book now. Have you read his bro‘s book—Look Me In The Eye? It‘s really interesting. 11mo
CRR @Scochrane26 I liked this one too. I have read his brother‘s book years ago—I‘d forgotten about it. I liked it too. 11mo
