#WondrousWednesday @Eggs last post!
1.Yes! Both read and listen everyday.Litsy Buddy reads are very helpful for streamlining reading and reading books I may not think of reading otherwise!
2.Well,rest for your eyes from a screen, for one.Reading gives you a variety of absorbing perspectives and narratives that's increasingly more important in a polarised, fractured world. And unlike a movie or a tv show, allow a lot more interiority.

Eggs Thanks for the eloquent responses 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (edited) 14mo

#12booksofchristmas @Andrew65 june. Among the contenders were My Phantoms by Gwendoline Riley, Looking for Mr Goodbar, and The broken shore by Peter Temple ( a great Australian crime novel), but I've got to go with a book that had me giggling to myself on the sofa to the annoyance of everyone else in the room. Definitely need to read more sue Townsend in 2023

#bookmoods #laughoutloud
This series, as I recently posted , has me laughing out loud to the annoyance of my wife who is usually sat next to me concentrating on something else. The glorious Adrian Mole gave commentary through his diaries to much of the events of English society and politics from the 80s to the 2000s and Sue Townsend was a brilliant comic writer whose sharp wit would have been appreciated in our current strange world .

TrishB Yes, I‘d appreciate her sarcy comments on current ongoing shenanigans! 2y

#20in4 Didn't get a lot of rdng in this wkd as I was helping dtr move flats so spent a lot of time sat waiting hence photo but another instalment in the wonderful Adrian Mole series had me chuckling away and later to the annoyance of my wife giggling while she watched TV. Adrian is now 24 in 1991, still in love with Pandora + working for DOE counting newts. Sue Townsend was a genius and still grinning thinking abt it. Bk 2 in @Andrew65 challenge

Storm Diego was raging outside and was so noisy it woke me up and then I couldn't go back to sleep. So I decide to read something light and easy instead. It was fun and (very slightly) nostalgic, but inevitably perhaps, it had aged a bit.

Winston and I will try not to take offense. 😂 We‘re finding this book very endearing, but it‘s a lot of teenage boy (Townshend‘s writing is convincing) and we think it‘s probably best, for us, read in smallish doses between other books.

Update: Adrian has grown on me & I‘d like to read the rest of the series!

wanderinglynn Winston is adorable! That face! ❤️🐶 3y
rachelk @wanderinglynn Thank you! I think he‘s pretty cute too. 😊 3y
