Starting this month‘s book club book. When they pick books like this it‘s very apparent that I am the oldest by 10 years. Not really something I enjoy reading about- I lived it.

Erinreadsthebooks Interested to hear how you like it. Looks like a good read, tough but good. 5d
kspenmoll I get it. 💔❤️‍🔥 5d

Ground Zero | Alan Gratz

Pickpick

My first Alan Gratz didn't disappoint. This dual narrative, of a young NYC boy who was caught in the twin towers when the planes hit on 9/11 and an Afgan girl in 2019, brings a humanitarian and global perspective to the events and war in general. Perfect for a YA or adult audience.

I‘ve been waiting excitedly for Spin Day!!!! #bookspin sent me running to my Living Room Bookshelves to find a new title and I decided on Frida‘s Bed, and #doublespin is something from an ongoing series and it‘s been way too many months since I picked up a Miss Marple. Happy reading everyone, thanks @TheAromaofBooks !!!

Good morning, everyone! The moment you have all been waiting for!! Our official #BookSpin number is EIGHTEEN! Our official #DoubleSpin number is FOUR!! I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyone‘s lists & am really looking forward to seeing your reviews!!

My next post will be the #BookSpinBingo card. I am NOT tagging anyone on that post!! If you want to bingo, please just check my profile for the card. This saves me having to double tag ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont‘d) everyone/keep track of who wants to bingo and who doesn‘t!!

I use the same tag list for the entire year, so if you would like to be added or removed, please just let me know. It takes me a while to tag everyone (there are over 200 of you!!!) so I will add “FINISHED” to the last tag batch so you know whether or not I missed you. If I did, it was completely inadvertent. Sometimes I just spell someone‘s username wrong. ⬇

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Two total opposites. My bookspin is Lumberjanes Volume 10, and DoubleSpin is the non-fiction book Come As You Are (and it's not about the band Nirvana). 4mo
tokorowilliamwallace I just made my spring list, and one of my draws was BOTM backlist, which is interesting because last night I just started one of my BOTM picks from April. 4mo
tokorowilliamwallace @staci.reads Nice nonfiction pick you got; it suits Taurus season, too. 4mo

Mi ricordo poco anche questo libro. C‘erano alcune cose che mi avevano infastidito e lasciato l‘amaro in bocca ma ricordo una bella lettura. Innovativa

McCann has a talent for deep character development and connecting disparate characters across space & time for sure. But, I loved Apeirogon, whereas I just liked this novel.

BarbaraBB I liked them both and didn‘t realize they were written by the same author 🤦🏻‍♀️ 9mo
Tamra @BarbaraBB 😆 I‘ve definitely done that. 9mo
BarbaraBB I looked him up and found out I even read a third book by him 😂 9mo

This was one of the more painful reads or “listens” I‘ve experienced. This is an amazing collection of oral histories from 9/11. It really brought back the sense of uncertainty and panic that was prevalent that day, even for those following the events via radio or TV. I heavily recommend this to those who experienced and recall the day (you‘ll still learn something new) and even more to those who were too young to remember or who weren‘t born yet.

fredthemoose Just finished this a week or two ago and totally agree! 12mo
JoeMo I was impressed with the number of stories that involved the president and the people who were with him that day. It was also an opportunity to learn more about what occurred at the Pentagon and in Shanksville. 12mo

“But in memory, as if imprinted on the sky, the towers are still there. And part of that memory is the joyful morning, August 7, 1974, when Philippe Petit walked between them in the air.“

Just the thought of this being a true story about a real man who walked between the Twin Towers. How crazy that this happened many years before the 9/11 attacks and then many years before many children were born today. The illustrations in the book are incredible and detailed.

The Man Who Walked Between Two Towers by Mordicai Gerstein. This book won the 2004 Caldecott Honor Award. This story today is viewed in such different light due to the 9/11 attacks that happened 22 years ago. This is a true story about a man who walked on a tight rope between the two Twin Towers in 1974. This story makes you hold your breath while reading it because of how high up this man was while doing this tight rope walking.
