Wish it was more about her career than her love life. She's a great writer, told a fabulous story. It just wasn't what I wanted. I did enjoy reading about her eccentric family, and the adoption and reunion story was touching, as was the heartbreaking beginning stages of her mom's Alzheimers. Disappointed that she didn't even mention the Hepburn play, though. Loved what little bit of Trek she included. #mttbrchallenge2020 #WomensMonth

Suet624 I agree with you. 5y

Mehso-so

This was less memoir and more outline of her platform for her presidential campaign. Harris touched on lots of important issues and I agree with her on most. She has been a champion for women, children, immigration, prison reform. She is definitely someone I admire and respect.
However, I was hoping this book would be more personal. She shared some anecdotes about her life, but I was looking for insight into her as a person

TheBookbabeblog84 I haven‘t read it. But it‘s on my list for this month - I think it‘s a bit more of a memoir. 6y
sammisho @TheBookbabeblog84 Maybe I will give it a try! 6y
KendylChamberlain You should do your research on her, I am from the central valley in cali, she slept and bribed her way to where she is and she is NOT liked here. These are not secrets, she is very proud of the way she carries herself. Its appalling! People are already writing about her many affairs. I dont mean to be so abrupt on your page, but it really upsets me that more people dont know her level of corruption and immortality. She will NEVER be President 6y
sammisho @KendylChamberlain Hi! Welcome to Litsy! This is the most welcoming, open minded, accepting and empowering place on the internet and I hope you find your people here. I have done my research on Harris and I have found that she has implemented some great programs and policies. I also find the attitude that slept her way to the top very misogynistic. 6y
sammisho @KendylChamberlain I am currently reading a book about the life of Cleopatra, and the idea that if a women owns her worth, is outspoken, educated, successful, she must of used her magical seductive powers to get there, has been around for centuries. It makes me sad that in 2019, as a society, we are still using that type of propaganda to put down women. 6y
LoverofLit @sammisho ❤❤❤ Well said. This one is on my list and I'm excited to read this one and her other book as well! 6y
KendylChamberlain Are we really proud of elevating women to power that have no morals? As if to say having multiple affairs and sleeping her way to the too is acceptable? It is not. There are plenty of respected women out there that can be uplifting and bring other respectable women with them along the way. We have an obligation to have higher standards. She does not rate. She will NEVER be president. She is NOT worthy to the office. 6y
sammisho @KendylChamberlain I don't care how many people anyone sleeps with, man or woman. And this is bigger than Harris. This is about how we discuss any successful woman. Saying someone slept their way to the top is demeaning. We will just have to agree to disagree. Again, I hope you find Litsy to be as lovely as a place as I have. ✌💕 6y
LoverofLit @KendylChamberlain You've made your opinion known and stated it multiple times. Litsy is a place to foster community around books. Welcome and I'd ask for you to move along and try to spread some joy! 😊❤ 6y
KendylChamberlain Wait!! So the fact that she had multiple affairs with MARRIED men doesn‘t bother you but me calling her out on her down ward moral compass does?? Holy Crap!! I think I now understand what everyone is talking about!!! You have your integrity turned around!! This woman does NOT deserve your misguided loyalty! She is PATHETIC! She IS what we SHOULD be talking about! Woman CAN and ARE successful WITHOUT pulling their pants down to move up!! 6y
KendylChamberlain I have been on Litsy for years now, just been very quite! I wont be now. 6y
KendylChamberlain @LoverofLit um no need to welcome me as I have been here for years. And just WTF are you to tell me to move along on someone elses page! Maybe I hit a nerve? Are you also such a feminist that you cannot see this woman INSULTS us? She is worthless and will NEVER amount to anything other than a laughing stock with NO class or tact! She is the butt of congress. Again, do NOT address me, you can “move along”.... (edited) 6y
LoverofLit @KendylChamberlain This is a close personal friend of mine who doesn't deserve your abrasive and insulting comments on her post. You have chosen to comment on her page in a public forum so I absolutely have the right to tell you to politely move on. Her and myself have both been very polite and kind in our disagreement with your opinion while you've been nothing but combative. I'm going to ask you again to move along or I'll report and block you. 6y
sammisho @KendylChamberlain Not sure what else there is to say. I think its a good idea for us to move on. Litsy is a positive place. Lets keep it that way! 6y
TheHeartlandBookFairy Litsy is definitely a positive place and although we all have differing opinions and that's what makes it interesting, I think there are times that we need to agree to disagree. @KendylChamberlain , the over use of all capitalized words is tatamount to screaming your opinion as opposed to politely voicing your opinion. But that's just my opinion ☺️ 6y
Chelleo Thanks for your review and for your positivity. Sorry it‘s not being reciprocated. We can agree to disagree without being disagreeable. 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Chelleo true, very true.... 6y
cathysaid @sammisho Following as a show of support and to prove that the abuse you are experiencing here is not the norm. Nothing at all wrong with disagreement...in fact, it‘s healthy...but this isn‘t healthy. This person is acting like a toddler with raging diaper rash who hasn‘t yet learned how to use her words. Block and move on! Remember, “when someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them.” 6y
jpmcwisemorgan How we talk about successful women is an excellent point - it‘s a cycle a lot of us fall into and if we want to change it we have to be aware of it. 6y
LoverofLit @jpmcwisemorgan Wonderfully said ❤ 6y
tracyrowanreads Wow @KendylChamberlain you sure do hate Ms Harris. But as this forum is about books, not politics, maybe take it to Twitter or Facebook, or some sub-reddit where that much venom is more appreciated? 6y
tracyrowanreads @jpmcwisemorgan Excellent point. Thank you. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @tracyrowanreads @LoverofLit I think politics are ok here if people can be polite and know when to stop. There are books posted here that are political in nature. It‘s also ok to say, hey, this person has behaved in a way that I find to be personally morally/ethically unacceptable and that‘s why I won‘t support them, read their book, etc. The larger issue is how we talk about powerful women compared to men in the same position. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @tracyrowanreads @LoverofLit The problem is that sometimes people don‘t know how to do this or when to stop. And a person in this thread was asked to stop and decided they didn‘t need to, and that‘s frequently a problem online. I‘m sorry it‘s found it‘s way to Litsy. 6y
LoverofLit @jpmcwisemorgan Completely agree. Political discourse is necessary to educate ourselves and others and when done respectfully. I was here at the beginning of this thread trying to diffuse the situation but alas, the person didn't seem to care to be polite or kind. In those cases it's normally best to try not to engage and move on. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @LoverofLit That‘s why I‘ve not tagged them. That‘s really my plan of engagement across social media - you want to rant and scream, cool, but I‘m going to engage with everyone else and leave you alone. And now I really want to read this book so I‘m going to see if I can get it audio. 6y
tracyrowanreads @jpmcwisemorgan I would never dream I'm trying to stymie intelligent and courteous discourse, political or otherwise. Alas, the comments in question were neither intelligent nor courteous, nor particularly related to the book in question. I can't help but feel that books should be our primary focus with the political implications of those books as part of the whole. 6y
tracyrowanreads Dream of. Ugh, autocorrect... 6y
Booksnchill Peace be with us all- read on in positivity and know you are supported! 6y
