Such a fascinating read, the author was a companion to Conte Brandolini's children and lived in a palazzo on the Grand Canal in late 1950s

My second weekend in a row at HPB ended in a massive book haul… so here goes:

This author was recommended by my father-in-law, a huge reader. It‘s first in a series of mysteries set in Venice. Since my visit there last year, I think I‘ll enjoy reading about Venice. There are a lot of books in this series so I‘m hoping I like it!

Librarybelle The series grew on me. I liked this one, was kind of on the fence for the next few, and then I guess I found my stride and really started to enjoy them. Love the descriptions of Venice in the books too! 2mo
Texreader @Librarybelle This is really good to know. Thank you!! 2mo

I had a hard time with today‘s #CoverLove prompt #angel. So, I perused my Audible library and came across this book. Sounds interesting and it was a free download!🙌🏽

#serieslove2024 back to this great series. Brunetti has to investigate a suicide at an elite military academy. The case is complicated by a lack of transparency, the parents are powerful people , politicians & military leaders. Brunetti is always thoughtful, his wife , family, food , wine , & Venice are always part of the story. Love this series, many to go , this is only book 12 of 30 plus !

TheSpineView Love when a good series has lots of books. 6mo

Lovely book of watercolour paintings of Venice that come to life even more after experiencing the city in real life.

Wouldn't call it a graphic novel as it's not really a story!

Bye bye, Venice 🥲 I will be back to see you again someday!

Have just arrived in Brescia for phase 2 of Italian adventure.

Am way too excited that our flat has a TV so that we can have a Eurovision party.

My friends are unanimously less pleased.

The_Penniless_Author You have good friends! 😉🤣 6mo
quietlycuriouskate I do love a bit of Eurovision silliness!🤣 6mo

Hooked_on_books I went to Venice years ago and had a great time. My friend and I had a map out trying to find something and a guy stopped and asked us for directions. We couldn‘t help him (uh, we needed a map). He says, “but you have a map—you know where you are!” It still makes me laugh. 6mo
RaeLovesToRead @Hooked_on_books Hahaha... the guy we rented the flat from told us to get lost in Venice... we walked round in many circles trying 🤣🤣 6mo
