An amazing, uplifting read of a rich young lady, Lauren, breaking free from her expectations in society in the early 1930s. Giving up her own status, she chooses to take on a private orphanage that was destitute and failing with the help of Becky and Mary. Powerful relationships, realizing what true wealth really means, and always having hope make this a beautiful and emotionally charged must read for fans of historical fiction!

I took this yesterday after a rain during supper time. Not very often to see a full circle rainbow. From my window. #BeautyBreak

Iowa farm life growing up during the depression. Far from feeling deprived, Mildred looks back with affection on her rich & vibrant experiences as a child. This isn‘t one of those woe-is-me memoirs. As to be expected, she felt some things in society had changed for the better, others not.

A few hours ago the sky opened and it rained buckets. A little later the sun came out and I took an unscheduled nap. Just now I took an abbreviated walk around the neighborhood because the rain left behind some humidity.
Seen on my walk: an
Upside down flag and mushrooms
Sprouting from the rain

Well, this is a rather depressing song about a breakup. #JuneSpecial Stormy Weather @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

My bookspin for March, a Canadian #Canlit children's classic from the 1980s. Hope to start later today!
This book could make an excellent lesson on the importance of resilience and the ability to thrive where you are. This book would be an amazing classroom addition to a library.
The illustrations in this book were really good and I enjoyed the writing style of the author. It was also very interesting and would make a good addition to a classroom library.
