Well, this was interesting. I didn‘t really relate to the characters, but enjoyed the story. I know this was set in the 90‘s, but the way the women were treated seemed more 60‘s to me. Very gory, which I find oddly fascinating. Will probably read more of Grady Hendrix.
#TBRDeckofcards. #CastTheDie

IMASLOWREADER same for me kinda like true blood vibes 13mo
Bklover @IMASLOWREADER loved it except for the fact that those were not 90‘s women. ❤️❤️❤️ 13mo

I found a more extensive list of genres online and decided to rebrand #TBRDeckOfCards to #GenreChallenge.

I drew a random number and the corresponding genre was Doctor Detective. A subgenre of mystery in which a physician plays the role of a detective to solve a murder or crime.

@Bklover I am going with a Robin Cook mystery in November.

Bklover I used to love reading those! Loved Robin Cook! 13mo
Coffeymuse @Bklover I'm reading Charlatan by him-it's a newer one. Looking forward to reading something by him! 13mo
Bklover Omg I didn‘t know he was still alive!! I‘ll have to check out his newer stuff. I thought he died years ago! 😳 13mo

An enjoyable read despite some infuriating characters who do not get the comeuppance they deserve! #tbrdeckofcards

I was looking for a book for holiday romance for #TBRDeckOfCards and discovered this novella on my Kindle app.

Listening to Christmas music, the A/C turned down low, and this book on my laptop made for a fine evening.

This was a cute Christmas story that I can see rereading next Christmas.

Now I'm off to find more Christmas books in the Kindle store!

willaful Thanks for the reminder of this one! 1y

Starting this for my August #tbrdeckofcards as I have hit a wall with my Rushdie for #authoramonth (Midnight‘s Children). Will resume Rushdie after a brief holiday break. I could use some Christmas temperatures!

September's cards have been shuffled for #TBRDeckOfCards and the genre is horror-hauntings.

A subgenre within horror in which ghosts or demons haunt a particular house or another setting, such as the woods or near an ancient burial ground.

I think my book will be Haunting of Hill House!

What do you think @bklover?

Bklover Ooooh, fun stuff! I may go with your pick. I haven‘t read it- just the miniseries. 😊 1y
Coffeymuse @Bklover I haven't seen the miniseries! After reading the book I'll definitely have to check that out! 1y

Pickpick

This was my pick for #tbrdeckofcards and #bookspin for July. Thanks for the disaster category @Coffeymuse because I loved this book! The earth‘s rotation is slowing, resulting in longer days and longer nights that just keep getting longer. 11 year old Julia narrates as the world deteriorates. I loved the tween viewpoint as normal tween stuff competes with the horrors that are occurring around her. This story felt very real, and will stick with me.

repost for @Coffeymuse

The cards have been shuffled for #TBRDeckOfCards and July's genre is disaster thriller.

This is where the protagonist is up against a major natural disaster that he or she must escape or stop. Disasters could include natural disasters, such as earthquakes, meteor strikes or tsunamis; or man-made disasters, such as nuclear explosions, cyber-attacks closing down infrastructure, or a biological weapon.
