A good realistic book about family problems. Personally, I think its kind of mid and not really my taste. It ends on a cliffhanger which wasn't that pleasant, if the book is going to be mid why add a cliffhanger? It just makes it worse. 💙

I love the overall theme of this YA anthology - that resistance is an everyday act and sometimes just surviving is resistance. And some of the stories were excellent (“As You Were” by Bethany C. Morrow and “Ruth” by Laura Silverman), but the short pieces didn‘t work in the audio format. And while the description mentioned #DisabledAndCute, the disability rep in here basically amounted to a mention of that hashtag in a poem, which was disappointing
5⭐. You need to read the first book "Lawn Boy" before reading this one. Middle school level. Less than 200 pgs.

1. Vertical stripes I guess.
2. Yes. Currently one in hard back and one on Overdrive.

This had an interesting story, but there were also aspects that that just didn‘t work well for me. I thought the information about virtual reality and how it could be used with hospital patients was great, and the development of the friendship between Addie & Mateo was wonderful. The backstory with Addie‘s mom and opiate addiction was originally very vague and wasn‘t resolved in a way that felt logical to me.

“Rules“ a Newberry Honor book by Cynthia Lord is an essential read for anyone in the field of education, particularly those interested in inclusive practices. The story follows Catherine, a young girl navigating her relationship with her autistic brother, David. Lord skillfully illustrates the complexities of family dynamics and the social challenges that arise in a school setting.
