The Wife: A Novel | Alafair Burke
post image
Pickpick

I loved the way Burke carved this book up into the four sections - and how she slowly doled out bits of info until you could put everything together.

With this, I‘ve finished off Peril the first for #RIPXIV

Wrapping up #ripxiv - Readers Imbibing Peril XIV! I read the 12 books shown above, and also watched all 8 episodes of Amazon Prime's UNDONE (twice!) and 8 episodes of LOVE, DEATH AND ROBOTS on Netflix. THE MARROW THIEVES and FRIDAY BLACK were my favorites. 📚 #thriller #horror #zombieapocalypse #ghoststories #psychologicalthriller #politicalthriller #speculativefiction #scifi #fantasy #sff

Nillyrock The Newsflesh series is one of my favorites of all time! I wish I had never read it so I could read it again brand new lol 5y

Currently reading this great short story anthology I bought on my Scotland trip! Loving the concept of each author writing inspired by a location. #RIPXIV

Some slightly darker comics fare for #ripxiv
I first read vol 1 of Monstress when it came out but didn‘t continue and I was thrilled to find the three volumes at the library. Abbott is set in 1972 Detroit and has a reporter investigating grisly crimes. I read previous volumes of X-23 and was surprised to see that this one is by Marino Tamaki. A new series? A reboot? Honestly I can never keep up with comics but I‘m just happy to start reading it

xicanti I haven‘t read this new X-23 series yet, but carries on from ALL-NEW WOLVERINE, an excellent series featuring the character and her younger clone sister. I highly recommend it. 5y
Eyelit I read Abbott a while ago and really liked it. Your haul looks great! Have fun 😄 5y

Charging the car and reading this new-to-me author for #ripxiv
.
It‘s set in South Africa in 1952 when the new apartheid laws have gone into effect and an Afrikaner police officer is found dead

Have you read Malla Nunn‘s books before?

Melissa_J I have several books in this series but haven‘t read any of them yet. I hope you like it. 5y
ErinSBecker I didn't realize it was a series. Yay! I've only read the first chapter so far, but I think this is going to be a real winner. 5y

I‘m taking on the Readers Imbibing Peril challenge - I‘m hoping to finish the first, second and third perils. So I pulled a bunch of titles that‘ll work to pick from over the next two months. #ripxiv #readersimbibingperil
