An anthology of murder stories set in real buildings in Scotland. Most of the writers are new to me even though I recognise some of their names. I will definitely be reading more of their work.

Now this is a prize longlist I would love to try to read before the shortlist and then winner is announced. The only problem is that they aren‘t all available in the US, yet. 😭 Well, that and the fact that at least half are series and these books are not the first-in-series. 😭😭
One of the many sad developments in 2020 was the cancellation of in-person book events. Consolation was found, however, in virtual events, especially in events I might not otherwise have been able to attend. Such was the case with Bloody Scotland, and I was glad to find an anthology that included some of the featured authors. It was my favorite book read in October.

At our local small shopping centre there is a Little Free Library. It tends to have rubbish in it when I look so I‘ve been putting in some of my recent reads. Today I was blown away these 3 beautiful books were there. I left my 4 and took these. I‘m very happy this day before Xmas. Reading and chocolates tonight. Oh and staying cool. 40c outside right now. 🌞🌞.

There‘s not a lot of tartan, but there‘s definitely a lot of noir! It‘s probably redundant to include trigger warnings fir a book of crime stories, but a couple of these were quite unsettling. I‘m looking at you, Denise Mina! No duds in this collection, just the observation that it‘s very perilous to piss off the wrong person in Scotland! As a bonus, I have added more sites to my list if I ever visit again.

Anyone else watching the Bloody Scotland Festival online this weekend? I‘m really excited for some of the upcoming panels!
Oh. My. Goodness. @Mitch thank you so much. The tagged book looks absolutely perfect for me! The book journal is beautiful and I adore the pencils. You are so kind and generous. I don‘t deserve you, but I‘m not giving you up. 😘😘 I‘m so grateful for your friendship. Merry Christmas!
Day 17 - #Bloody #ChillingPhotoChallenge
In a collection of short stories described by James Crawford as a tribute to two of our nations greatest assets - our crime writing and our built heritage, twelve of Scotlands top crime writers, among them Lin Anderson, Val McDermid , Gordon Brown and Ann Cleeves, weave plots of murder and mystery around structures including a 5,000-year-old burial cairn, Bothwell Castle and the Forth Bridge.
A great collection of stories pairing Scottish crime writers with Scottish historical sites. I particularly enjoyed the Brookmyre, Mina, Cleeves and Robertson stories. Now I'm really looking forward to the Robertson book I have on my shelves!

1️⃣ Got to work earlier than usual so that I could be at a computer for 7 a.m. EDT, when Bloody Scotland (www.bloodyscotland.com) tickets went on sale
2️⃣ Once the tickets went live, I put my credit card to work 💸
3️⃣ After that I found it hard to concentrate for the rest of the day
4️⃣ Also I was really hungry today for some reason 🤔
