I read 5 books for #booked2023 during the second quarter of the year. My Calamity Jane was alright, but my least favorite of the bunch.

1 My Calamity Jane #AnyPartOfATrilogy

3 Last Night at the Telegraph Club #QuietYABook

4 I See You #BookDescribedWithTheWordsStretchTwistOrBalance

5 Station Eleven. #AboutAPandemic

11 The Lost Summers of Newport #SetIn2plusTimePeriods

I loved this uplifting story of a young woman from the Dominican Republic who finds herself through her love of poetry. It‘s YA, but this mature reader felt all the feels for X and her struggles. The themes of questioning religion(Catholicism) and mother/ daughter conflict spoke to me.Thank you Litsy for bringing this to my attention! Thank you #booked2023 for including the prompt #quietyabook.
I listened to the audio which was wonderful!

SamAnne I don‘t read much YA and I absolutely loved this spoken word novel! It gives me the feels that there is literature like this out in the universe for YA. 2y

This classic has been on my shelf for a while, and it was worth the read. The narrator is perhaps a little too self-aware, but the story itself was heartfelt and full of feels.
Using this for #quietyabook for #booked2023

This was an interesting one to be reading opposite Spare. While Harry feels he‘s in an gilded cage, Francisco lives in a real one. Based on a true story, his father was wrongly arrested and he and his 8-year-old sister live in a men‘s prison. In #Bolivia, if children have nowhere else to go, they can live in prison with their parents. At 17, Francisco struggles to understand why while trying to finish high school and care for his sister.

Cinfhen Great use of multiple prompts 😁xx sorry im behind on commenting - terrible Wi-Fi but having an amazing time 🇲🇦❤️ (edited) 2y
