Bodega Dreams | Ernesto Quinonez

Book #1 of 2025: “Bodega Dreams” by Ernesto Quiñonez

Set in Spanish Harlem, this novel centers on a fictional radical named Willy Bodega and his plans to improve the quality of life for his fellow Puerto Ricans. It‘s told from the perspective of a young man in the neighborhood who gets caught up in Bodega‘s work. It‘s a fast read and I enjoyed it.

I‘ve been listening to iLe & Ivy Queen‘s “Algo Bonito” a lot lately. Great song for #TuesdayTunes

This was and wasn‘t what I expected somehow…. The story of a Puerto Rican family of women from Staten Island who think they may have found their missing person on a reality TV show. I enjoyed it, but am a little nervous to see how my retired ladies in the book group will receive it. #wickedwords : hospital

Friendship. Destruction. Demons of the storm & sea. If Stand by Me were set in Puerto Rico during a hurricane...and there was a monster. One of the best books I read this year! #noir #horror #friendship

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Nice small graphic about the author's life leading to her becoming a ballerina.
