I did a speed read of this as it felt like I‘d read it before or possibly watched something. So it was predictable for me. Read it through to end to see how it was resolved . Clever.

I highly recommend this book if you are interested in reading stories that would keep you at the edge of your seat throughout the story. It is a psychological thriller that seizes the reader to read the pages until the very end. This is the book for you if you are intrigued with mind-blowing plot twists with a well-written story and narrative.

rianna.dudas If you like books such as The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, Sharp Objects, and Gone girl by Gillian Flynn, this book definitely needs to be on your “to read list!”

rianna.dudas The Silent Patient is a psychological thriller and mystery involving an artist named Alicia Berenson who seemed to be living a perfect life with her photographer husband, Gabriel, whom she is deeply in love with. Issues started to arise when their life unexpectedly turned upside down when Alicia murdered her own husband by shooting him on a random night.

1w
rianna.dudas She was investigated and found guilty after refusing to talk or say any word after that incident. Years passed and she was admitted to a mental facility where she remained silent and emotionless. The unsettling murder that baffled everyone gradually started to fade from everyone‘s memory except for

rianna.dudas Theo Faber, a psychotherapist that worked there who is deeply intrigued in Alicia‘s story and the truth behind what truly happened. Theo is dedicated to comprehending the silence behind Alicia and discovering the true reason for what actually transpired by becoming her therapist and slowly trying to bring herself back into reality. 1w
rianna.dudas Theo has no idea that his work as her therapist will light up a path that was never intended to be found and pursued.

rianna.dudas One of the themes that revolves around this novel is the idea of honesty and deception between the characters in the story and how it is able to turn one thing to another. The Silent Patient highlights the need of honesty as a critical component of one's own and other people's safety and security.
1w
rianna.dudas Deception on the other hand is also one of the foundations of the plot. This is made clear by Theo Faber's statement that “Choosing a lover is a lot like choosing a therapist,“ which suggests that one should carefully select a partner who is honest, trustworthy, and with whom one can open oneself without fear or judgment.
1w
rianna.dudas The Silent Patient consistently demonstrates how deception can affect a person and their decision, it is what manipulates to reveal the side of the character that they have been concealing. Furthermore, this theme demonstrates the connection of conflict to one‘s honesty. Alex Michaelides uses the theme “honesty vs deception” to intrigue and evoke the readers to unravel the mystery by examining the honesty and deception between the characters.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Can‘t listen to it. The narration is truly awful. Breathy and weak and utterly terrible.

This was fun to read. I devoured the last third of the book, as the twists kept coming. I had three different suspects for the murderer, changing my theory as new information was received.

After finishing Mara‘s recent #BOTM pick, I wanted to check out more from Mara, so I started listening to her debut! With multiple timelines & perspectives, there were a few transitional moments where I wished I was physically reading it. But it immediately reeled me in when Sylvie, just before returning from maternity leave and woken in the night, thinks she sees a body floating in the pond next door! The neighbor‘s story emerges all with twists!
