Pickpick

Sentimental pick. This very book was presented to me in 1975 for playing Ernie in my school production of Alan Ayckbourn‘s ‘Ernie‘s Incredible Illucinations.‘ I don‘t remember a thing about it - the play, I mean - and the book‘s now incredibly dated. I haven‘t acted in anything since: apart from the drama of life, of course, which has been way too dramatic lately. For all of us, I mean. Stay safe guys, and Happy Saturday!

I always loved these observer series books as a child, something in the classification and catalogue approach appealed to my Virgo brain! Saw this stack today in a vintage furniture store window....made me feel old / vintage! 🤣

monalyisha They‘re so pretty! 😍 6y
TrishB Oh I had these and have not thought about them for years. No idea where mine went, how lovely. 6y

#NuYear #Observer 👀Reading this library book over the weekend since it has to be returned soon. News corespondent Katy Tur had a front row seat to observe the madness of the Trump campaign. I've heard good things about it & I started it over a dinner of Asian Grilled Salmon served over salad with a healthier version of a peanutty dressing from another Ina dish.😋This week's theme for my food blogging group was lightening up Ina Garten recipes...

DebinHawaii ...or finding her healthier recipes to cook. Link to recipes with my adaptations are on the blog: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/2018/01/inas-asian-grilled-salmon-with-green.... 7y

Littens, you are the #observer of my personal library work in progress. The cropper unfortunately cuts so much out, but this is around my entire wall. #nuyear

LeahBergen Wonderful 😍 7y
Librariana Let's all collectively fall in love with your shelves and all this bookish beauty in progress 😍 Please don't stop sharing! 7y

Librarybelle @Librariana Thank you so much! I have so many more boxes to unpack...this has been a nearly three year project so far! But, it‘s finally coming together. ❤️❤️ 7y
Coco 😍😍😍😍😍. Where did you get ur shelving from?! 7y
RebelReader I thought I had a lot of books, but my personal library is a baby compared to yours! So jealous! 7y
Nikki15 That looks so good!!! 7y
Librarybelle @Coco My father put everything together, going to the local home improvement store and buying wood and hanging apparatuses. He also painted the wood white for me. I‘m so happy he could do this for me, his version of a housewarming gift when I moved into this house. 7y
Librarybelle @RebelReader I spend my extra money on books...can‘t help myself!! ❤️ 7y
DivineDiana Fabulous! Great Dad! (edited) 7y
Librarybelle Thank you, @Nikki15 ! 7y
TheBookAddict Beautiful! I just showed my husband and told him that when we get our own house (because we‘re renting right now) that I want those kinds of shelves in our library. 😁😍💕 7y
Librarybelle Thanks, @DivineDiana ! Maybe whenever this gets finished, I should invite the #PhillyCrew over! 7y
DivineDiana @Librarybelle That would be so nice! 👍🏻 7y
Librarybelle @TheBookAddict It‘s a nice, sturdy way to keep shelves, and you really don‘t have to worry about weight too much if you make sure to look for studs. It helps too that my dad loves to do wood working! 7y
Librarybelle @DivineDiana It‘ll be some time before everything is put away. I have twenty boxes in the library, plus more books at my parents‘ house! I‘m a true book hoarder. 😊 7y
DivineDiana @Librarybelle I applaud you! You‘re a collector! 7y
ElishaLovesBooks Wow! Love it!😍 7y
Zelma It looks great. Look forward to more progress pictures. 😍👍 7y

The big controversy in my town in 2017 was the firing of librarians. It was a major issue in the mayoral race and led to some resignations. Don‘t mess with our Library! #nuyear #observer

LibrarianRyan Which library in which state. I nees to read more. 7y
TrishB Same for libraries in this country 😔 7y

LibrarianRyan @Suzze thanks I'll look it up later. We had 2 libraries in our state refunded last election. 7y
LibrarianRyan Literally a few minutes ago I was reading a story very similar to your town. It's very scary what non librarians try to do to libraries 7y

Pickpick

Dr. Laszlo Kreisler is an #observer of family relationships and child psychology and works to uncover the identity and motivation behind a serial killer in NYC, 1896. Filled with historical details of the squalor of tenement living, gangs, and police corruption, it‘s easy to believe this fictional tale could be real.
The deep dive into the psychology of a sadistic killer will keep you glued to the pages until the satisfying end!
#nuyear

Reviewsbylola I apparently have this a so-so. I think maybe the length felt a little long. 7y
emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola I wouldn't have minded if it was even longer!!! 7y
Craftylikefox I am really curious to see how the series goes on TNT. I have also been tempted to read the second one, but I heard it isn't as good. 7y

TrishB Not read this - but it‘s coming up a lot at the moment! 7y
Cinfhen I own it, now I NEED to read it!! Great review 💚 7y
JessNevertheless I got this in my BOTM extras this month and I can‘t be more excited to get my box! 7y
emilyhaldi @Craftylikefox I know, I'm scared to read the second one too bc i don't think it can live up to this one! 7y
emilyhaldi @Cinfhen you really should- its a bit on the chunky side but reads pretty fast! I'm trying to get @Mdargusch to read it soon so we can watch the tv show 👍🏻 7y
Mdargusch I will have to be the tie breaker between you and @Reviewsbylola ! 7y
Redy2trvl I can‘t wait to read this!! 7y
GripLitGrl Your review has me excited to read this!!! 7y
kalinichta You're right that the second one doesn't measure up to the first, but I'd already become so attached to our mystery solving team, I didn't mind because it meant more time with them. 7y
writerlibrarian I read this when it came out and fell hard for the brothers. This is a really good view of the beginnings of forensics. I loved it. I have the second book but it stayed unread. I'm curious to see the adaptation. (edited) 7y

I‘m going with this one for #observer . I was so impressed with this book and the author when I read it this past summer. A scientist of any kind is a master of observing the interactions of the universe. #nuyear

TrishB Sounds like an interesting read 👍🏻 7y
Cinfhen I've heard wonderful things about this book💚nice pick 7y
wen4blu I read this autobiography about her last year and have been meaning to pick up Silent Spring ever since. 7y

I sat down to read last night but got distracted by the reporting of a murderer on the loose in my area. I had the scanner on and then quickly became an #observer of the FBcomments on the news reporter‘s live feed all evening. Good lord people are dumb. I swear I saw at least 150 “but where is he?!” comments. Pretty sure if they knew that they wouldn‘t have the K9s and helicopters out. Reading the comments was like watching a train wreck. #nuyear

MicheleinPhilly I can‘t even follow my local news‘ FB because people are just 🙄. I follow a few of the individual journalists but I NEVER read the comments. 7y
Cinfhen That‘s hilarious 😆 not that a murderer was on the loose but the comments😂😂😂 7y
Hollie @MicheleinPhilly I normally don‘t either but they were next to the live feed and I couldn‘t help it. It made for a frustrating night! 7y
Hollie @Cinfhen they finally found him dead in a field at 10am. Those people commenting are the reason people think Kansans are rednecks and simpletons. 😂 7y
