Winner! Winner! Of the 2018 #MilesFranklinAward 🇦🇺📚👍. Have it on my #tbr bedside table. Need to bump it up the list. #ozfiction

CarolynM Oh dear. I read Questions of Travel and found it really frustrating - one of those books where I felt there was a much better novel trying to get out. I don't think I'm going to be in a hurry to read this one. 6y
Tashreads @CarolynM - I bailed on Questions of Travel, so I‘m not sure about this one either. 6y
quirkyreader Now only if a US publisher would print the winners. Most of the books I have by Australian authors were found in charity shops. 6y

JennyM I didn‘t like this one either I‘m sorry to say. I found it boring and couldn‘t wait to get it over with. And I was so looking forward to it after waiting ages for a library hold. Hopefully you enjoy it more that I did. Let us know your thoughts x 6y
MrsMalaprop That‘s annoying @quirkyreader There‘s always BookDep I guess? 6y
MrsMalaprop @CarolynM @Tashreads @JennyM Oh, that‘s a shame. I‘ve not read Questions of Travel. Will certainly let you know my thoughts once I‘ve read this one. 😊 6y
CarolynM @quirkyreader Is there anything you particularly want? I'd be love to send you some Australian literature. In my opinion the Prime Minister's and Premiers' Awards often go to better books than the Miles Franklin or Stella. 6y
CarolynM @MrsMalaprop I look forward to seeing your review of this one. 6y
quirkyreader @CarolynM Thank you for the offer. As soon as I peg down which book I am looking for I will let you know. 6y

This year's #milesfranklinaward shortlist has been announced! The Miles Franklin is Australia's biggest literary prize. More great books to add to my TBR!
🇦🇺📚👍

Centique Oooh - keen to hear what you think of them! 7y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Oh! Thanks for the heads up! Need to investigate all of these!! 7y
minkyb Thanks for the post! 7y
Redheadrambles Well last year I did my project of reading the shortlist but this year I don't know 🤷‍♀️..... I might wait and see how you go ;) 7y

This is my TBR before the end of the year shelf minus a few titles I need from the library to finish the #readharder2016 challenge. It has been my best year ever in terms of upping my reading speed and I put that down to GReads / Litsy / Instagram and this challenge 😀😀😀

JenP Great selection! 8y
Redheadrambles Just realised - Bill Clegg got cropped out and his book is probably next ... 8y
Marchpane #milesfranklinaward shortlist? Look forward to seeing what you think of these 😀 8y

Redheadrambles @Marchpane yes I am in NZ but try to keep up with AusLit - Readings had the shortlist in a bundle. I have read The Natural way of things and Hope Farm and now just three more to go - leaving the winner until last 😀. Have you read any ? 8y
Marchpane @Redheadrambles Ashamed to say, I haven't read any of them. Salt Creek has been on my TBR forever and I think I will also pick up Black Rock White City. 8y
Redheadrambles @Marchpane well hopefully I too will get to both of those and we can discuss 😉 8y
Theresa 1. I love the idea of a picture of the goal for the remainder of the year. I feel like #readharderchallenge is slipping away as other challenges come up. 2. Congrats on your best reading year ever!! 3. Thanks for mention of Miles Franklin award. Wasn't familiar with it but now all of the finalists are in my TBR! 8y
Redheadrambles @Theresa - motivation for myself more than anything and likely very ambitious with some of those longer novels in there. As regards #readharderchallenge what stage are you at ? I have 4 Tasks to go :- essay / food / science and book to film. 8y
Theresa I finished the 2016 challenge & am now working on 2015. I had 6 more to go on that, then I realized the @TheSpinecrackersBookClub selection for the classic read for August counts for 1 of the categories so I knocked that out today & am down to 5. I'm happy with that progress but lately it's felt like I'm reading everything except books for this challenge & I don't want time to slip away from me. 8y
Theresa BTW, have you selected a book for the essay category? That was the toughest category for me. I started a couple that I couldn't get into (trying to be more high-falutin' than I really am) before finally settling on one of David Sedaris's offerings. 8y
Redheadrambles @Theresa - I am so impressed you are doing 2015 as well ! 5 books to go with 4months to go should be no problem right ?😀🏁 8y
Redheadrambles @Theresa - Essays and food memoirs are my weak spots. I have read and enjoyed David Sedaris so I could go that way but then I read someone's review on some Orwell essay's so am going to at least try those 😬 and also your Voracious book 😀📚🍳🍝 8y
Redheadrambles Oops not you but someone suggested this and it tickled my fancy 8y
