Escaping Ordinary | Scott Reintgen
post image

Indira Story‘s sequel is something i have been looking forward to for a year & a half! I am so excited to find out what her next adventure will be & continue to read about this darling, strong little hero.

Have you read Saving Fable yet? If you have then you‘ll want to read Escaping Ordinary! If you haven‘t read the first book, you really should, especially to your children.

Leaving my cold state and heading for the warmth of the beach while waiting I‘m reading Deborah Abela‘s MIddle Grade book, The Stupendously Spectacular Spelling Bee.
Delightful book filled with really great big words and a darling main character named, India Wimple.

How is your Sunday?

wordslinger42 I loved this one! It had some mixed reviews on NetGalley, but I ended up being so glad I was able to review it 😊 4y
LinesUponAPage @wordslinger42 have you read #3 yet? I loved the first two, I‘m afraid that the next one is going to let me down. I want to buy them for my granddaughters, I‘m just not sure if i should wait for #4 and buy them altogether... 4y
wordslinger42 @Lifeisasnap I haven't even read book 2 yet! I hope this is one of those series where the books get better and better as you go along! I probably would buy the first 3 and not wait, but I'm not very patient when it comes to buying books 😅 4y
LinesUponAPage @wordslinger42 i feel like book number 2 is better than the first book and i thought the first book was good. It had more world building in it and more adventure. I hope you enjoy it when you read it! (edited) 4y

Wow. Let me just say this book is powerful. I read it to my boys over the past month and they were so intrigued by the stories and it allowed for dialogue about a topic often not spoken of with kids. We all loved it. I cried during many sections. We all cried tonight as we finished the book.

I will say the writing is rough at times but if you can over look it, it's worth the read.

ErikasMindfulShelf What age group is it good for? 7y
aevrabel @irre my boys are 8 and 13. I would say it was a little over my 8 year olds head at times and I had to stop and explain a lot. I found it in the 8-12 section of our library, but my personal opinion would be 10-18. 7y
ErikasMindfulShelf Thanks. My daughter is 8 so I think I‘ll wait a couple of years before I give it to her. 7y

I reread this book many, many times as a kid! Though it wasn't nearly the type of book I tended to gravitate towards, Ida's strength and courage struck a chord with me. ~ #Day14 #BooksSetInASchool #booktober #bookphotochallenge ~ @RealLifeReading ~ #FunFridayPhoto #MiddleGradeBook

she_barks I took my son to meet Avi when he was in 2nd grade. I have the cutest picture if the two of them. He's a really interesting guy! 8y
bmsddk @she_barks Wow, that must have been an awesome moment for both of you! 8y
