Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach To Customer Service | Ken Blanchard, Sheldon Bowles

This book festival is held in Mississippi in August. It is hot. It is humid. Many of the booths hand out fans. I started collecting these fans the first festival I went to four years ago. Today I collected four more fans. Trust me I could‘ve collected 20 of them but, I could not get to each booth. Plus I‘m not quite sure I would know where to put all those fans. Karl Rove and John Meacham, when you hear those names, the last thing you think of is a laugh filled conversation. However, that is what we got. Many great stories; presented with lots of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this panel. #MSBookFestival #LiteraryLawnParty.

At the end of the conversation Karl Rove offered the first dollar to the “buy John Meacham sock fund”. Notice Mr. Meacham is sockless.

Midnight's Children | Salman Rushdie

Had the pleasure of listening to a lecture by Sir Salman Rushdie today. Learned much about his journey to Booker Prize winning author. #msbookfestival #literarylawnparty

In my wildest imagination I never thought that I would sit in Jackson, MS and get to hear a lecture by this author. The Mississippi Book Festival Committee does a fabulous job of bringing great authors to this city. Worth the drive from AL.

LisaJo @KathyWheeler They do bring in a lot of really good writers. I came over from Alabama for the first one because John Grisham and Greg Iles were there. I‘ve continued to come because they bring such great authors. Last year I saw Richard Ford. So many great writers that you can‘t get to see them all. Definitely come, it is a good festival. 6y
