No weekend break in the new regime! They‘ve fallen in love with the trick of posting big news on a Friday night. This week it was the firing of three top officers at the Pentagon. After previously firing the Coast Guard commandant. I wonder why??

As a #longtimefed I sometimes had the opportunity to see high-level officials in person. I also saw four POTUS speak, from much farther away than I was for GEN Powell. Clinton was the best speaker.

Aims42 Ugh. I miss the days of waking up and not instantly thinking, “Welp, let‘s check the news to see what he dismantled while I was sleeping” 😒 1w
Julsmarshall Me too, @Aims42 The expertise and historical understanding that we are losing everyday is terrifying. 1w

The_Penniless_Author Saturday too. Nothing improves morale like a random email demanding we justify our jobs in five bullet points or risk being fired: https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/22/politics/elon-musk-employees-emails/index.html 1w
Susanita @The_Penniless_Author Right? I‘ve seen some brilliant responses on Bluesky though. Also, “requesting to understand” means what? 1w
Amiable @Aims42 SAME. I haven‘t had a full night‘s sleep since Nov. 5. 😖 @Susanita Sending virtual hugs. I know they don‘t change the situation, but it‘s all I‘ve got right now. 1w
Susanita @Amiable Hugs are always welcome. 1w

Happy Presidents‘ Day* to those who celebrate.

Some good ones who must be looking on in horror at what we‘ve become, and some bad ones who must be patting themselves on the back for their part in getting us here.

IMHO part of the job of President is respecting the people who work for you. ALL of them. In this time of “narratives over facts,” starting tomorrow I‘ll share a few narratives about my experience as a #longtimefed employee.

Susanita * The holiday is officially Washington‘s Birthday on the federal level. It‘s a little awkward, however, to wish someone a happy…someone else‘s birthday. By the way, we do NOT need an additional holiday for a certain someone‘s birthday. What is wrong with these people? 2w
Tamra That‘s a question without an answer. 😑 2w

kspenmoll @Susanita Thank you for posting about real people‘s lives/your experiences right now in the chaos. (edited) 2w
AmyG Not my President‘s Day for me. Hope things work out ok for you as a federal employee. Scary times. (edited) 2w
Susanita @AmyG Thankfully I‘m retired, but I‘ve been following the shenanigans with alarm. 2w

One of the best non-fiction, personal growth books I have ever read. Told in a story format with very relatable examples. This book has useful information for people at all stages of life.

The Fearless Organization was my November pick for #12BooksOf2024. I borrowed an e-copy from the library and did a LOT of highlighting -- and then it got returned automatically when the loan was up 😂 I'll have to borrow it again to get the highlights back.

Absolutely loved it. Great lessons on leadership in an approachable fashion. Less tedious than most leadership books which focus on building systems. They use examples from events they experienced while deployed in Iraq do illustrate leadership principles that can be widely applied.

This was great. I highlighted a lot in the ebook copy but had to return it to the library, so I have to borrow it again so that I can retrieve the highlighting 😂

Mehso-so

This was just meh. But it might be ok if you're a new manager and didn't already read dozens of these. Julie is a Facebook veteran and does talk about some of her more senior coworkers but overall 🤷

This is the feedback model we use at work. Some people are better at it than others. There are tons of suggestions and I definitely recommend this. Especially if you're a people manager.

So many questions but let‘s start with WHY is there a large Muppet in this storefront?

ImperfectCJ The balcony was unavailable? 6mo

marleed 😂😂 I hope his partner is doing okay 🤣. I have a 2 yo grandson who loves 2–3 inch figures. He‘s currently renamed with the Sesame Street gang. Well, was. I was concerned his lack of knowledge of Kermit and Miss Piggy so purchased a set of five Muppet Baby figures. Animal is his new favorite object. Muppet merchandise is currently not a big marketing toy so the search is on! 6mo

tournevis Better question: why is Waldorf alone? Where is Statler? 6mo
Sharpeipup @imperfectcj touché but there was no balcony 6mo
Sharpeipup @tournevis those were on my list of questions 6mo
ImperfectCJ @Sharpeipup Well, I guess he had to find an alternative then. :-) What I'm trying to figure out is the warm clothing the people in the reflection are wearing. With as hot as it still is where I am, it's very difficult to imagine wanting to wear a stocking cap 6mo
