My local bookclub reads based on a monthly topic. March was “a color in the title”. These were my reads. We had an interesting and diverse mix of books chosen.
What book would you suggest with a color in the title?

I first heard about this book over a decade ago and finally decided to read it for my book club‘s May theme, “a book you‘ve been meaning to read for a long time but keep putting off,” after a friend highly recommended it. In a word: Wow. I can see why this is considered a modern classic—it‘s provocative, unsparing yet also compassionate, and unputdownable.🔸#aprilreads2021 #LitsyATXReadersSociety #LARS
Read this for my book club‘s April theme, books/library. It‘s a short collection of quotes curated from C. S. Lewis‘s essays and letters, so probably not super interesting unless you‘re a fan of the author, which I am, so I enjoyed it.🔸#aprilreads2021 #LitsyATXReadersSociety #LARS
The Litsy ATX Reader‘s Society met today to discuss this month‘s topic: Books About Books or Libraries. I enjoyed all four of the books I read for it, to varying degrees. I think I actually liked the two non fiction best, which is unusual for me.

May‘s topic: Something You‘ve Been Meaning to Read for a Long Time but Keep Putting Off.
(We‘re still meeting online. Let me know if you‘d like to join)
Recommended by several members of my book club, #LitsyATXReadersSociety or #LARS for short. It was also my pick for our January theme, “Read previously for LARS by another member.” I loved the openly curious and innocent questions of the author‘s young mixed-race son about race, religion, and culture. 🔸 #januaryreads2021
Hi #LARS folks! Next #LitsyATXReadersSociety meeting is March 21, topic is Dystopian. Reminder we had a venue switch to The Steeping Room and time switch to 3:30. We have a table reserved for 6. Please RSVP here or better yet, go check in on Slack for discussion.
(We changed for SXSW, but I think we should keep the change this month since folks were excited to try something different.)
3 confirmed so far.
Sarah! It was so sweet of you to bring me gifts, thank you! These cards are so neat! I pulled a random card for today and got JMW Turner, who I‘m not familiar with. I love the last quote: “The sun will rise whether or not you are there to watch it.”
The cat bookmark is adorable, and I‘ll enjoy using the bookpeople card. Thank you!
What‘s been sitting on your TBR shelf for the longest? It‘s hard for me to say for sure, but I‘ve got several contenders for this month‘s topic of #LARS.
If you‘re in the Austin area and interested in checking out our monthly Litsy bookclub meetups, let me know! New comers always welcome!
Reminder: Journal making field trip this Sat, Nov 9th, 2-5.
