This book gave me anxiety. It was like reading a book about Amelia Earhart or Anne Boleyn. No matter how much you like the main character, shit is absolutely not going to end well. This is about a Somali man who was wrongly accused of murdering a Jewish female shop keeper in Cardiff. It's very well written. It's just a tough subject.

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 3y
Graywacke I understand that anxiety! I‘m having a little trouble relaxing and reading. I‘m reading on edge! ☺️ 3y
vlwelser @Graywacke I think it's definitely because they're real people instead of fictional. But it is beautifully written. 3y

I thought this was great. It's super dark which is what you would expect from this author. It's short stories and my advice would be to read them one at a time, rather than reading this straight through.

This is another really dark one. If you liked his book Macbeth, definitely read this.

Roy and Carl are still trying to cover up some mysterious deaths and disappearances from years ago. What would they be willing to do to keep their secrets?

That was pretty good. I kind of thought the husband was a big ol' jerk and I'm usually not interested in reading about married couples struggling with their relationship, but this was oddly compelling for me. I loved the descriptions of the places where they traveled, and of the actual sailing experience. Not a hugely uplifting book, though.

Thank you to #knopf for the free #arc.

Six months before moving to Rome, Lahini decides to read only in Italian. This is her description of the effects of that decision on her reading self. #Knopf #JhumpaLahiri

SarahDorra I wonder if this helped her more than textbooks, but I'm sure it did :-) 7y
Moonpa Such a wonderful "memoir". Lahiri did the audio - English and Italian(of course). Really enjoyed it. 7y
Chelsey That's fantastic. I am fluent in Spanish and other than the Bible and Bible commentary I rarely read in Spanish. I love the English language and use of beautiful language makes me giddy happy but my Spanish vocabulary isn't very artistic. I find myself bogged down and frustrated trying to untangle sentences that I feel like I should understand but don't. 7y

Being a bookseller is pretty cool. Being a kids' bookseller is awesome. And being a kids' bookseller in a city full of authors & illustrators like Kelly Jones ( #UnusualChickens ) & Liz Wong ( #Quackers ) is amazing! These lovely book heroes stopped by to sign stock, which precipitated a 45-minute conversation on all books ever written. I only left work an hour late... Worth it! #booksellerlife #kidsbooks #knopf #yearling #authorlove #WCCPBA #YRCA

BarbaraTheBibliophage @bio_chem06 @BookishMarginalia Thanks for the heads up. Where is the documentary running? 8y
bio_chem06 @BarbaraTheBibliophage I found it on Amazon, but I don't know if it is on Prime anymore, but you can rent it. But you could check Netflix too. Might be there now. 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Cool - either of those would work. Thanks! 8y
