Last night was way too windy outside for sleep so I indulged in a fire and #booktime. Anyone else love reading by the fire? (It's the only source of heating on the ground floor of my cottage - living room & kitchen, just 2 rooms so they warm up quickly). I am a big fan of John Boyne‘s books. When I read them I am unable to think of anything else. The Hearts Invisible Furies is on my Top 10 list!
I‘ve just finished A Ladder to the Sky…it is such a dark novel, the main protagonist is horrid..but I wanted to keep reading..horror and dread one page…laughter the next ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow how I loved this book. How can I cry on one page and laugh out loud reading the next? 😍 It tells a story of the life of Cyril Avery from 1945 to 2015...based in conservative Catholic Ireland, describing love and loneliness, corruption , sexuality and resilient human spirit.. it‘s all here beautifully described.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars from me.. and I want to read another book by this wonderful writer!
