These are the first two books in the Harper Connolly series. I love this series. Harper was struck by lightning when she was a teenage, and now she can see dead people. So now her and her stepbrother travel the country trying to solve murders.

This one had a very Amelia Bedelia vibe that I found harder to get behind. Maybe because there was no murder mystery 🤷‍♀️

ShyBookOwl Amelia Bedelia 😅 I haven't thought about her in ages! 2w
Librarybelle That is a good description of this one! 1w

This between the books novella was fun and the mystery was the twist. Cute and it‘s always good to spend time with Molly and the gang.

Finished this @ the Tampa airport while I was waiting for my flight home! A very cute novella! I love Molly‘s character! I‘m eager to read the new Maid novel coming out in April! I don‘t think you need to read the previous 2 books to follow it, but I definitely recommend them bc they‘re so good!! I have a soft spot for Molly bc she is on the autism spectrum (although it‘s not specifically stated) like me!

Molly the Head Maid is on the job in the impressive hotel. The novel takes the reader back to Molly‘s youth and then into the current day. Molly follows her beloved Gran into the professional role as a maid. A well known author is murdered in the hotel‘s new tea room. As the mystery unfolds we learn more about the author, Molly, Gran, and other employees of the hotel. I would call this a cozy novel. 4/5

I felt slightly underwhelmed with this one, and maybe it‘s because shorter stories usually seem lacking to me. Poor Molly does not pick up on the clues that lead to the unveiling. But, fear not…the next in the series comes out in Spring 2025!

Hooked_on_books I think this series in particular works better in the longer format. 1mo
Librarybelle Agreed, @Hooked_on_books . I read your review of this and felt the same way. 1mo

While I enjoyed this between the books novella, this is a series that I feel benefits from the novel-length story to flesh it out. It was fun to spend time with these characters, but it felt a little sparse, so a low pick for me. Once again, Lauren Ambrose is perfection as the audio reader.

A delightful enemies to lovers read, I enjoyed the characters and the fun story line, the banter and the humour made it all an engaging read for me. Quirky Izzy brings the “sparkle” to every room she enters the polar opposite of her co-worker Lucas who she is now being forced to share shifts with. One of those reads that leaves you with a big smile and just feeling happier.⭐⭐⭐⭐
