First published in 1979 , the series kept its popularity with young teens (and adults)way into the 80s .V.C.Andrews wrote the first 4 before her death from breast cancer .It was a closely guarded secret for years that the books were ghost written after that .

Jerdencon I read this book when I was about 10 or 11 - clearly my reading was not censored back then! Loved this book - read it so many times! 5y

LeahBergen @Tamra I‘m enjoying it slowly and reading one story a day. The back of the book has the history of each heritage home that a story is based upon and a bit about any hauntings/legends associated with it. It‘s fun! 5y
