PenguinInFlight I hated this one too. I haven‘t tried to read it as an adult, but maybe I should. I usually liked assigned reading, but I didn‘t enjoy this one at all. 6y
Kaylamburson I wasn‘t really a fan either, but I did actually finish reading it. I felt like in high school I didn‘t always finish the assigned reading, but this was easy to get through. 6y
WanderingBookaneer @PenguinInFlight : I did not like Steinbeck‘s novel as a teen, but when I was forced to teach it I learned to appreciate its characterization, which is what I focused on. 6y

WanderingBookaneer @Kaylamburson : I always finished my assigned readings in high school. I always describe this book as the longest short book I ever read. 6y
PenguinInFlight @WanderingBookaneer that is a perfect description! 6y
BethM I‘m with @WanderingBookaneer on this! 6y
BibliOphelia I hate Hemingway with the white hot passion of a thousand flaming suns. ☀️💥☀️💥🔥 6y
BibliOphelia See also: Steinbeck & Faulkner 6y
Valeka Awww! It‘s one of my favorites! 💚 6y
SleepyDragon This is the only Hemmingway book that I have read thus far that I absolutely hated. Lol I enjoyed all the others I have read. 6y
CaramelLunacy Oof. I didn't care for it when I read it either, but hope you like it better for your reread 6y

I want to use this book for #GoodreadsSummerReadingChallenge2018 . The hardcover is not compatible with my budgetary needs.

sherri That better be one heck of a story. 😂 6y
ravenlee Hmmm, paperback looks just a bit more appealing here! 6y
Itchyfeetreader You could buy a kindle and the kindle book and still be significantly better off! 6y
PirateJenny Holy crap! Wonder if I should sell mine... 6y
RadicalReader @WanderingBookaneer wow that‘s one beefy book!! 6y

Starting book 5 (tagged book) for #GoodreadsSummerReadingChallenge2018 . Hoping to read book 6 tomorrow.

bookishkai Is it your first of Kozol‘s books? He has so much to say in all of his books about education and poverty. I love him so much. I read Savage Inequalities for a class in college and it awakened my passion for education reform. 6y
Caterina I didn‘t know about this challenge - it looks fun! I couldn‘t do the “Sick Day” prompt though, am I seriously the only person who read every single assigned book in my entire education? 😂 6y

riversong153 I‘ve tried reading challenges before and have never successfully finished one. I find that I‘d rather stumble into different reads even if they are on my tbr. 7y
Cityofamber I might try it... I need to look into it more:) 7y
corycatelyn This sounds like fun...where do I find the info for it? 7y

2BR02B I always love the idea of reading prompts, but in practice I'm too much of a mood reader to follow through. 😅 7y
Cityofamber @2BR02B that‘s my biggest hesitation too... 😂 I might just do the beginner one and give myself more room to read others besides the challenges :) 7y
WanderingBookaneer @corycatelyn : On the Goodreads homepage. 7y
WanderingBookaneer @2BR02B & @Cityofamber : Me too. I struggled to finish reading challenges last year, but this year I‘m doing better. 7y
Jazruiz.2014 I always do our library summer reading challenge with my daughters 7y
