My reading for tonight.

sarahbarnes I‘m excited that gardening season is starting here where I live! 1d
ravenlee I‘m interested in seeing how you like this one. We‘ve been expanding our garden every year. Of course, this year we lost half our seedlings already to a late frost last week, and probably lost the other half last night to a hailstorm so it‘s feeling a little hopeless at the moment. 1d
PatriciaU My daughter is building a backyard garden this year - her first! She grew up trailing around her grandparents who were avid gardeners. Might have to get this for her. 1d

Darklunarose @sarahbarnes we are lucky we get a summer season and winter season. We are in drought so the summer season was pretty bad. We should be planting for winter soon. Praying for rain…we need it so much. 15h
Darklunarose @ravenlee honestly it‘s very basic. I grew up with my mum being an avid gardener, and this veggie garden here started in the pandemic. But I still pick up little hints out of beginners books that I never thought of. 15h
Darklunarose @PatriciaU I hope she has lots of fun with it! Gardening is a joy:) 15h

Oh, I wish you could see/hear the video of “my” little finch enjoying the fountain in my backyard! Perfect day for reading this book that I found at #bartsbooks in Ojai, CA. 💛

Welcome back @TheSpineView 😀
1. My favorite spring flowers are pansies. I love their little faces!
2. My mystery book club requested a flower-related cozy for our May selection. I found a “bunch” on cozymystery.com including the tagged book. Unfortunately, it‘s not available at the library, but look at that cover! I mean, a cat AND a corgi?!

TheSpineView I love that cover! Thanks for playing! 1w

3 ⭐ This book is very long. It is the story of the Gaines kids‘ trials and tribulations in building a garden. The lesson is never give up and to try new things. Just because you failed once doesn‘t mean you will only fail. You only fail if you don‘t try. The book is fine. There‘s nothing wrong with it. The illustrations are also fine. But it‘s not one I think would get checked out frequently, especially by people who don‘t recognize the name.

This was a lovely little book about how gardens (both real and those depicted in art) shape one's life. I have about a quarter acre of land that is an absolute mess right now, and it was nice to read stories about people with beautiful gardens who also struggled to find their green thumb. I made pinterest boards and added lots of suggestions to my TBR that I can refer back to as I begin my work this spring!

jen_the_scribe I have a huge planter‘s box my husband got for me. I‘ve always wanted to have a garden but feel like I kill plants too much lol. Maybe this book will inspire me to finally get started, I keep seeing it everywhere. 3w
Rachel.Rencher @jen_the_scribe I feel you! I failed at container gardening and I've struggled to keep succulents alive. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that I've never prioritized learning about the plants I have or my garden zones, but I'm ready to change that! 3w
jen_the_scribe @Rachel.Rencher I think that‘s what I need to change as well, to actually do my research and keep trying. It must be like everything else, it just takes time and practice. 3w

I picked this book up at the library sale this morning. I've been hoping to find some inspiration to get started on my yard this year. 🌸☀️

I struggled with this one. It was a unique and I liked it for that but boy it was a slow roll of a story. It was frustrating because there were elements (we‘re talking Feed Me Seymour here) that could have livened up the story had the garden been more character than background. I also thought too much was explained in the wrap up of the story that wasn‘t played out in earlier chapters.

I read this to my class today - what a sweet story. It made me think of the #naturalitsy group on here because this is like We Are the ARK for kids.

This was a DNF for me at 86 pages. I felt no connection with the character, and just had no interest in her story.
