Medical Terminology For Dummies | Beverley Henderson, Jennifer L. Dorsey

Someone learned a new science word & is flashing it around like he knows what it is. You can‘t see mitochondrial disorders. I don‘t know what he‘s trying to imply. Mitochondrial disorders are not very common (I worked with a handful of kids in early intervention that had these disorders & I worked with the medically complicated kids at Duke). I really wish the news would ask him to define what a mitochondrial challenge looks like. Also how

ncsufoxes creepy is it that he‘s eyeing children. Also how do you define healthy? You can‘t look at a child & determine if they‘re healthy or not. That is between the child, their parents/guardians & doctors…not you. I wouldn‘t say that he looks or sounds healthy, so he shouldn‘t be one to make judgments. #ranttime 3mo

lil1inblue 😡 😡 😡 The daughter of a dear friend has a mitochondrial disorder. It took quite some time to get a diagnosis. And they struggle constantly with it because it's an “invisible“ condition, so people don't believe them. My loathing of this man knows no bounds. 3mo

1. I feel okay today. Exercise class was fun, and we got some much needed rain.
2. Yes. It‘s how I stay in touch with some of my friends and get some (but not all) of my news. On the other hand, it can also be frivolous at best and mean spirited. I make a point not to argue with strangers, as tempting as it may be.
3. When I shut it down a couple hours before bedtime (except for Litsy of course), I‘ve found that helps.

Kerrbearlib Glad you had fun at exercise class! I have also found that logging off before bed helps. I try to log out between 9 pm and 10 pm every night and then give my electronics to my husband to hide. It‘s helped me sleep better. (edited) 9mo

Susanita @Kerrbearlib That‘s a good idea. Unfortunately I have to use my phone to play music that will blot out the faux news in the other room, but I‘m getting better at doing that only and not going off on social media tangents. 9mo

I thought it was good, but it didn‘t have as much humour as the other “For Dummies” books I‘ve read; I usually really like the humour, so I missed that. In all honesty, even though it was simplified, I still had trouble fully understanding some of the explanations and had to reread a few paragraphs more than once. Even so, I definitely learned things. Cont in comments...

LibraryCin There was some repetition but that‘s because it is meant to be a reference, so you don‘t need to read it front to back; the repetition didn‘t bother me, but I wanted to mention it. 2y
