#ThreeListThursday #tlt

I got so excited reading everyone else's posts that I forgot to post mine! I chose my three favorites. In fact, they're in my top 10 of all time!
In no particular order:
1. CASABLANCA: “Louis, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.“
2. GONE WITH THE WIND: “After all, tomorrow is another day.“
3. REBECCA: “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.“

Thanks to all who played! 🍿❣️📽️

shortsarahrose I got to see Gone with the Wind at a historic theater just like it would‘ve been seen originally and it was one of the coolest experiences. 2d

Oscar Wars, by Michael Schulman (2023)

Premise: A history of the Academy Awards told through the stories of several pivotal moments across the decades.

Review: This is a fascinating and generally successful piece of nonfiction. My only struggle with it is the decision to tell the story of the Oscars through long, in-depth vignettes, rather than through a traditional survey. (Cont.)

Mattsbookaday The format has the advantage of really zooming in to specific moments in time, but its disadvantage is that it left me still feeling pretty murky about those parts of the history that were not the focus of any of the chapters. But if you‘re at all interested in cinema or pop culture in general, this is an excellent read.

Absolutely kicking myself for waiting this long to listen to the details, story, love, and attention to detail that I was hoping to hear about one of my favorite movies!

This audiobook was fantastic! Full of interviews from cast and crew, and boy do I mean crew, from producers, set designers, riggers, makeup, what a range of people all having to do in and around Mad Max: Fury Road.

A look at some of the more interesting stories, characters and controversies that have surrounded the Academy Awards over the course of its history including the Fontaine/deHavilland rivalry, Citizen Kane debacle, House of Unamerican Activities, #Oscarssowhite and Harvey Weinstein. Recommend to those with an interest.

It was pretty cool learning about the women of Disney Studios history. They had to put up with a lot in order to follow their career dreams. I also really enjoyed learning the history of many of the films these women worked on, and learning a bit of cinima history along the way. Check content warnings before reading. #WomensHistory #FilmHistory #Animation

Hiked out to a nearby reservoir and put up my hammock to read while my mom and husband fished. Conditions were absolutely perfect, and mom took two trout home! #OutdoorReading #PerfectSpot #Hammock

I saw this sitting unlocked on my Audible wish list and decided it would make a nice palate cleanser, considering the general pattern of my nonfiction listens. (And yes I am aware that I just described a book about horror movies as a ‘palate cleanser‘).

Anyway, it‘s about what I expected and wanted: Most of the info here isn‘t anything too earth shattering for horror hounds. There‘s a sort of fanboy patina around it all. I liked it enough.
