Great read, especially timely. Jam packed with information about Amazon, their practices, and the global, far reaching implications. Borrrowed from my library, this was written by a indie bookstore owner who has a clear perspective and strong opinions about the best way to fight back against the shady dealings and secretive data mining they Amazon has perfected. Also, going to exclusively track my books in storygraph next yr, no more goodreads.

I love my Apple products. And, between covering the innovation, materials, scalability, Chinese factories, US-China politics, high skilled workers, economic and political strategy, and Apple policies, McGee has written a compelling, terrifying, engaging, and interesting book. I loved it.

20 pages in and my brain hurts. DNF

A quick, informative and timely read.

It roughly boils down to applying the principles of economics to social phenomena outside the scope of property and finance. It‘s a good idea, if not a particularly revolutionary one… It‘s just a shame that it was executed so poorly and with so little intellectual rigour, given the subsequent popularity of the book. “Apple currently uses 187 suppliers across 28 countries to make the IPhone” This slim volume in clear language explains why using Tariffs like a blunt instrument is bad for the economy & for businesses large & small. On again, off again creates instability, creates chaos. One of the most obvious problems shows up in our soybean market, China usually buys about 25% of ours . They have decided to source elsewhere. PS ,ultimately,WE pay the tariffs !

A series of essays about what the authors term as abundance. I disagree with the title- I think it could have been tradeoffs or unintended inefficiencies. Most of the writing focuses on good intentions of liberal policies that cause inability to be nimble and quick to build, invent, deploy.
