This is the perfect example of don‘t judge a book by it‘s cover. This book is way meatier than expected and quite literary as well. The unnamed narrator is a 58 year old professor at a small liberal arts college where her husband has been accused of numerous cases of sexual assault. What she‘s unaware of is how the allegations will affect her. A true page turner with some unexpected surprises. #Booked2022 #DarkAcademia

I read a fair number of business books, and this one didn‘t do it for me. I much preferred Billion Dollar Loser (tagged below), which is more a profile of CEO Adam Neumann. His eccentricities are the star of this story, not the figures from funding rounds. I just found myself tuning out. This is heresy for me because I still love her, but Therese Plummer was not a good narrator match for the #audiobook.

Megabooks @Cinfhen yes!! I thought of that as well, in regards to it also being a high profile case. But I also thought about the whistleblower (that they discuss in this book too) that exposed all the Fallopian tube removals happening at some detention centers. I am just completely sick of any men thinking they know what‘s best for women/ppl with uteruses (individually or us as a group) when it comes to reproductive choices/health. 😡 3y

I read three books this week. It started out good with the fantastic Disappearing Earth. I had high hopes for Missoula too because I love Krakauer‘s style but this one was too much of a report for me. Then a book set in space which didn‘t disappoint but didn‘t blow me away either. And on we go!
