Last night with the cozy fall vibes✨

I laughed to find this at the end of the book, because I thought about When No One Is Watching several times while reading this, although it's far less terrifying.
A single mom with way too much on her plate--including the stress of being one of very few Black parents in her daughter's school--finds herself getting caught up in some very suspicious PTA drama. I liked the slice-of-life parts of the story, but Mavis go on my nerves a bit. (cont.)

It's almost the 4th of July. Sophie gets hired by the Queen of Cheesecake, Bobbie Sue. Soon after, Bobbie Sue's husband is found dead. The suspect list is long, and soon Barney is at the top. There's a mysterious woman, a coach, an ex-husband, the dead persons step-son, plus Barney. There's no way, Barney could have done it, is there?
😊 Happy Reading 😊

I like the Brooklyn Wainwright series better than this one. Shannon is a contractor who goes on a bad date, and people start turning up dead — people she doesn‘t like — and they are murdered with her tools. Shannon and her friends (and enemies) are quite immature; they‘re in their 30s but still have high school drama going on. The killer‘s motive was incredibly weak. We‘re also set up for a love triangle. Bleck. #audiowalk

I'm shocked that I enjoyed this as much as I did. There were places where I giggled. It was truly funny. The serious parts were written without banter. Touching, charming, a good read. I only chose it for the prompt. I would never have picked it up on my own. Good gravy, I love reading challenges. Seven sins in title ##SPNBOOKBINGO2025 @OutsmartYourShelf

This was okay, and maybe in another mood I'd have loved it? But it felt a bit too deliberately quirky, and in the end I wasn't really feeling it, even before the murderer was both really obvious and really unconvincing.
This was my #DoubleSpin, woo.
