Alastar Moody is great in this chapter - a strong leader, a skilled tactician and a focused friend. But let's talk about Hedwig. In her annual apology, has she ever said sorry for this death? To me, this is one choice she could have changed. Sigh.

I reacted negatively to Slughorn's words, 'the set', and watched him with suspicion and scorn for the rest of the book. He is a deeply flawed character and yet his contribution to Harry's journey can't be denied. Don't like him. But how clever is Albus to use Harry like this?

There is a lot of anger here stemming from frustration (on Harry's part), stress (on Molly's part), and viciousness (on Sirius's mother's part). I get where Harry's coming from, but taking it out on his friends is not cool.

Had the Dursleys made even a scrap of effort to understand Harry's 'other' life, none of this would have happened.
Is it that Hermione and Molly's opinions are disregarded? (Well, I don't agree with Molly, and Hermione's choice of Crookshanks is unfathomable) Is it that Ginny is mocked by her brothers? (They mock everybody though).
Maybe it's the depiction of these female characters?
I just don't get this theme with this chapter. Sorry.

Great chapter. Harry has nothing to be ashamed of. But he has lots of learn. Staying with the Wessley's teaches him one thing - not everyone treats him as badly as the Dursley's.
