I just recently ordered this nonfiction book for my class library. It is a fairly quick read that details an attempt to reach the North Pole by George De Long, captain of the Jeannette. After leaving Alaska and a year spent trapped in the ice, the ship sinks, and it becomes a survival story as the crew heads to Siberia over ice and by boat. It includes excerpts from journals, illustrations, and photos of artifacts.

This is Book #3 in the Middle\Junior Reading Olympics Must Read Booklist. It is a journey of two young boys who set out for the Klondike in Canada in 1897 in search of gold. It is written in a letter and journal entry format which makes it even more interesting!

I'm really glad that I read this book!
At the start I was a bit sceptical and yet, those doubts wasn't necessary. This book show how much one person can hide under the straight face, even if it's a teenager. It shows pain and fight for survival. Also, it teach us about helping others. That with that we help ourselves too. It's not just a story about girl and her dogs, which was amazing too. It's about living!
