I know we usually rely on @TheBookHippie for Yiddish lessons but this word came up in my book twice already and I had to look it up! I like the positive connotation behind it

pickWeird, YA eldritch horror. Finch‘s cluelessness was a bit grating at times, but she navigates her way through her relationships & friendships at a prestigious performing arts school with a hidden horror.
Playing around with displays again (I mean sure, I could have shelved non fiction but this was loads more fun)
so-soIt was ok but I just wasn‘t that into it. I ended up skimming the last quarter of it tbh
About half way in and so far I‘m feeling meh. Maybe it‘ll get better or maybe it won‘t be for me. Idk yet
so-soAfter a terrible one-night-stand, Iris and Stevie run into each other at auditions for Stevie‘s ex‘s play. Out of desperation, they decide to fake date, Iris for inspo for her book, Stevie so her friends will get off her back.
There was some messed up logic that bugged me in this book. Lots of things I would consider tiny were blown up and lots of big things were shrugged off.
Also, Stevie‘s friends were the worst.
pickEven though not everything is done correctly in this book (one difficult character should've gotten more attention and a real solution to her problems), I liked this book more than I thought I would. I was surprised by how much of me I found in Imogen. Same thoughts, struggles, over-thinking, questioning. There are some problematic parts, but I still think this work might help some people finding themselves.
