One of my favorite middle grade novels was Counting by 7's by Holly Goldberg Sloan. This one was equally as sweet and hopeful. A good read for any kid who feels different or has issues in their life well out of their control.

Elaine Feeney is now an automatic buy for me. I loved her first novel, As You Were, and I loved this one, too. (I'm not sure how to preorder her new book, since I can only find info on a UK edition?) I felt equally invested in Jamie, Tess, and Tadhg. I found myself rooting for each of them in different ways. I can see myself rereading this one at some point.
My son is autistic so I nervous going into this but I loved it.
Yes, it‘s heartbreaking and difficult at times (the history of how autistic children were treated is brutal) but it is full of history, science and hope. It is well written, well researched and it genuinely changed my perspective on autism in the best possible way. Important and thought provoking, everyone needs to read this book.
I did the audio version of this book. I like the way that this story was laid out. A student interviews a nursing home resident for a class project. The student didn‘t expect the what would come of that. The book turned very suspenseful. It seemed a bit drawn out towards the end. All in all, this was a good book.
My new grooming shop is finally up and running! Here‘s our new mural, featuring our shop kitty Cali who didn‘t survive the hurricane floods, and Sam the owner‘s dog. On the couch Mazi, Sietje, Sam (as above so below 😆) and Kira. Kira is a client, but she wanted in for the photo. Mazi and Sam are Sietje‘s coworkers, lol.
I do like this author and that she writes romances featuring characters with more depth. Not my usual genre.
Was constructing one of those red-yarned detective boards in my brain the entire time I was reading this one…trying to keep up with the mystery‘s twists and revelations, the narrator‘s supplemental memories and observations, the layers of added complications from a pandemic backdrop, a nonspeaking witness, etc.
12 years ago today I became a Mummy. My beautiful boy has complex special needs and my world has become a whole lot smaller over the last decade. It‘s one of the reasons books are so important to me, they aren‘t just my escape from everyday life, they are my chance to go other places and have other adventures. Books keep me sane!

This was a novel in verse about a girl who is struggling more with her neurodivergence as she gets into middle school. She comes to realize that she‘s on the autism spectrum and other members of her family probably are as well. She becomes an advocate for herself as she learns there are others who feel the same and more about accommodations that can be helpful.

I really enjoyed this heartwarming and hopeful read that is perfect for fans of holiday small-town romances with a great cast of characters. Centered around an autistic heroine, McNicoll celebrates the beauty of neurodivergence and the importance of acceptance. Highly recommend! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
