In Denmark, Christmas dessert is ris a la mande: a rice pudding with almonds, whipped cream, and warm cherry sauce. The person who finds the whole almond wins a prize (it's never me).

Danish Food & Cooking | Judith Dern

A day late, but one of my favorite family traditions is my brother's Danish dinner, with two kinds of potatoes (three if you count the chips my host parents served when I lived with them), roasted pork with the crispy skin, and red cabbage. Perfection.
