The Son of Tarzan | EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS

Jack has a shorter temper than his father, and somehow is more racist. Might need to take a break.

About 25% in, and I think I would‘ve devoured this one as a kid. Tarzan and Jane‘s son runs away to the jungle!

Well, it‘s a lot better with the context of the first two books but still not my favorite.

January #wrapup

I read 6 books in January and DNFed 2. The tagged and Cubs & Campfires were both top picks for the month, but I think I‘m going with Empire as my favorite in January.

Reggie I‘ll have to look Cubs and Campfires up! 4w
Bookzombie @Reggie I hope you enjoy it if you do! 4w

Trial by Fire | Christopher Tebbetts, Jeff Probst

“We have to boil that first! she said. “What do you mean? Why do you have to boil it?“ he asked. “Because,“ Buzz told him. “You just drank water off the bottom of a giant bat toilet. That's why!”

Pickpick

If you enjoy The Mummy with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz (I do!), I feel pretty confident stating you will enjoy this book. This was a lot of fun. I read in print and listened to this one and highly recommend the audio.

Finished January 19, 2025.

Reggie Can you believe those movies are almost 25 years old? I feel old Margie. lol 1mo
mabell This does sound like fun! (As a fellow Mummy lover!) 1mo
Bookzombie @Reggie Me too! Every time I see a list of movies or songs that are “this many years” old, I‘m wowed. Like how was that so long ago? 1mo

The 2nd Raiders of Arcana book is just as fun a historical treasure hunting romp as the 1st!

Have I already read this book? Yes. Did I request this arc entirely for Picard‘s narration? Also yes. She does a fantastic job giving each character such a strong individual voice that I know whose POV we‘re in w/out any other clues. & the emotion she conveys throughout is amazing. I‘m ready to seek out books she‘s narrated w/out any more info.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Pickpick

Book 3 of 2025. Four stars for the story, which follows two boys growing up in an isolated tribe in the Amazon. The only thing I didn‘t like, explained in the author‘s note, is that almost everything in the story is made up - the tribe isn‘t real, some of the plants and animals named aren‘t real, and most of the language the “Takunami” tribe uses is made up. The story is based on an idea about unknown tribes in the jungle. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This year I am striving to post more consistently here and to actually participate in #bookspin #doublespin

I have chosen to make my list a list of prompts so as to not be forced to read something I don‘t want to or loose interest in a book because it becomes required reading.

January‘s prompts were Fiancé Pick and Poll Pick.

#bookspin #doublespin is hosted by @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Enjoy!! 2mo
BacklistReader @TheAromaofBooks I hop to. I really liked the fist two books in Frostheart series and Philippa Gregory is one of my favorite authors. 2mo
TierraWilliams243 That‘s such a smart approach—using prompts gives you flexibility while keeping the fun in reading! Wishing you the best with #bookspin and #doublespin this year. It‘s a great way to stay engaged and discover new reads. Looking forward to seeing what books your prompts lead you to!

BacklistReader @TierraWilliams243 I‘m hoping this works cause I love this challenge but I have yet to complete it. Good luck with your 2025 read‘s hopefully there are more good ones than not so good ones. 2mo
