Chain-Gang All-Stars: A Novel | Adjei-Brenyah, Nana K
post image

Very pleased with the 170 books I read this year! 86 were nonfiction. It‘s the first time I‘ve hit 50%. It‘s not intentional, but I like to look back at year‘s end and compare fiction vs nonfiction for my own satisfaction, I guess. 🙂 Overall favorite was, without a doubt, Chain-Gang All-Stars. Best novel I‘ve read in years. YEARS.

BarbaraBB In years?! Wow! 11mo
5feet.of.fury Nice! I only read 9% nonfiction last year & so many of those made my top books of the year that I‘m going to try to go up to 20% 11mo

This volume dealt with some more serious issues, but still a quick and enjoyable read. Squeezed it in just in time #2023reads

Fine buildings, fine pictures and books and everything that is beautiful are certainly signs of civilisation, but an even better sign is a fine man who is unselfish and works with others for the good of all.

I loved this book! The author shared parts of her story as they related to her topic, which made for a great, relatable read. Each chapter had a couple of questions at the end, making it a great resource for reading with another person. Highly recommend for a woman in any stage of faith, whether new believer or seasoned Christian. #2023reads #audio

A stunning and introspective story of a girl travelling through Japan with her elderly mother. A trip to find connection with each other lead to reminiscing about the past and their stories. Can the bond of a parent and child transcend generational and cultural differences? Our desires might be different, our vision on contentment might be different.. such a contemplative and meditative book! Beautiful imagery of Japan too! #2023reads #japan

☀️☀️☀️☀️ Great book that I will add to my library. There‘s no sunshine & rainbows, but there is beautiful prose. It‘s a love story. It‘s a survival story. It‘s a story about family, hatred, resolve, & acceptance. #bookworm #avidreader #2023reads
