Jane Eyre | Charlotte Bront

I wrote several papers on this book in college for a lit crit class. One was titled "Mr Brocklehurst Is a Giant Phallus." Some of my best work. ?

I have a soft spot in my heart for this one, BUT...that fortune teller scene is really weird.

#19thcenturynovels #classicsTBR I am reading Cranford currently.Picked Gaskell because it ties in nicely with other posts featuring Charlotte Bronte .Gaskell wrote a biography of Bronte !a landmark of women writing about women.A shout out to the reference book! I know we all love the interweb thingy ,🙃but a good reference book a joy to have in your library. #readingwomenmonth #junebookbugs

RealLifeReading I adore Gaskell's books! 8y

Villette | Charlotte Bront

#readingwomenmonth #19thcenturynovels. Another small stack of all books I have read. Love these authors (although I admit that Mansfield Park is my least favorite Austen) and curling up with one of these novels and a mug of tea on a rainy day.

Felso Sound like heaven! 8y
Blaire Love middlemarch. 8y

Jane Eyre | Charlotte Bront
post image

In honor of my late aunt Felicia my pick for the #ReadingWomenMonth challenge #day23 #19thCenturyNovels is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Although we did not always agree on genres, my aunt and I shared a passion for reading and feminism. This was her favorite book. It is on my #TBR list, and with a quote like the one above, I am confident I will enjoy reading it. 🙌🏼📚

JillR Jane Eyre is one of my all time favourites 😍 8y
Jess7 @JillR I've heard good things about it and I'm obsessed with this quote. I want to read it this year. 8y
JillR I look forward to hearing what you think! 8y

Villette and Middlemarch are two of my favourite #19thcenturynovels and two of the best books ever💃

Shirley is one of my most-anticipated #classicsTBR. By most-anticipated I mean it might sit on my shelf unread for a few more months (years 😬).

erzascarletbookgasm I own these three classics for years now, sadly still TBR. Have only heard great things, but I get distracted too easily! Great covers btw. 8y
batsy @erzascarletbookgasm Yeah, the eternal problem of being distracted by other books 😀🙈 8y
Leftcoastzen Love Middlemarch will check out Villette, how could I go wrong with a Bronte (edited) 8y

Lady Audley's Secret | Mary Elizabeth Braddon
post image

A governess, marries a rich older man, and becomes Lady Audley, but she has a dark secret which she intends to keep at all costs. An atmospheric country house, secrets, blackmail, crime and some detective works are all packed in this book that made it a 'sensation novel' during its time. Inspired by a true life story, it's about a woman's ambitious climb and passion for social success.
