Despite a few snarky remarks about women, I liked this one. It‘s my first time reading a Nero Wolfe mystery, so I was not quite prepared for the man himself and his gruff manner. Told from the perspective of his assistant, Goodwin, Wolfe has to sort out a puzzle connected to a death.

I‘d consider reading another in the series! #192025 #1955

mabell I read one or two - mostly just listened to the radio show! 📻😄 4mo
Librarybelle @mabell Oh! I think this would make a good radio show! 4mo

The plot was so-so and the pace was quite slow, but overall, I enjoyed this mystery, the first I've read from this author. I liked the main characters and would be happy to read more in this series. I also enjoyed all the Sherlock Holmes references.

Centered around a group of anthropologists, it‘s students and their friends and family. This is the same snarky Pym that I met in “Excellent Women” and I loved it.

The two sisters competing over who is the most religious was just too much.

#BookReport
📚 finishing King Lear today for #shakespearereadalong
📚 finished November Road for #BOTMBuddyRead - I had a hard time getting into the story at first, but then I liked it. I think the ending was a bit far-fetched, but I still liked it. 👍
📚 finished Lilli de Jong for #LilliRead - great book! 👍👍

Continued in comments ⬇️

CoffeeNBooks 🎧 I really only listen to audiobooks when I'm on the treadmill, and for some reason The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion wasn't holding my attention. I have the book, and I think I'll like reading it better. I love Fanny Flagg!
📚 finished In Dubious Battle for my #ReadingThroughTheYears192021 list for #1936 - John Steinbeck is one of my favorite authors👍

CoffeeNBooks 📚 finished Moonraker for my #ReadingThroughTheYears192021 list for #1955 - this wasn't one of my favorite 007 stories, but I love James Bond!👍
🎧 An Irish Country Doctor didn't hold my attention, either
📚 finished My Man Jeeves- good, but I preferred the stories featuring Jeeves
📚 read issues 3-9 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - good so far!

ljuliel Irish Country Dr is a bit sappy. I wish I liked it more , but there‘s something missing in it. 5y

This wasn't one of my favorite 007 stories, but I do love James Bond, so it was still a pick. #ReadingThroughTheYears192021 #1955
