The Brotherhood of the Wheel
The Brotherhood of the Wheel: A Novel | R. S. Belcher
11 posts | 5 read | 1 reading | 9 to read
R.S. Belcher, the acclaimed author of The Six-Gun Tarot and The Shotgun Arcana launches a gritty new urban fantasy series about the mysterious society of truckers known only as, The Brotherhood of The Wheel. In 1119 A.D., a group of nine crusaders became known as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon--a militant monastic order charged with protecting pilgrims and caravans traveling on the roads to and from the Holy Land. In time, the Knights Templar would grow in power and, ultimately, be laid low. But a small offshoot of the Templars endure and have returned to the order's original mission: to defend the roads of the world and guard those who travel on them. Theirs is a secret line of knights: truckers, bikers, taxi hacks, state troopers, bus drivers, RV gypsies--any of the folks who live and work on the asphalt arteries of America. They call themselves the Brotherhood of the Wheel. Jimmy Aussapile is one such knight. He's driving a big rig down South when a promise to a ghostly hitchhiker sets him on a quest to find out the terrible truth behind a string of children gone missing all across the country. The road leads him to Lovina Hewitt, a skeptical Louisiana State Police investigator working the same case and, eventually, to a forgotten town that's not on any map--and to the secret behind the eerie Black-Eyed Kids said to prowl the highways. March book haul! So this is me actually showing restraint in buying books. ?

Lately I've been having a hard time seeing a book all the way to the end. The books I'm reading are good; I just have "shiny object" syndrome right now where everything looks so interesting that I can't focus. My fave genre is horror, so I think I'll pick up something I know I'll stick with. Thinking of going with Brotherhood of the Wheel from my last Book Outlet order.

Zelma Nice haul! 👍 I read comics during a book slump. That allows me to only focus on things for short periods and that don't take tons of concentration, yet still requires reading. I have been reading comics almost nonstop for months due to stress. 8y
brittanyreads I think I have the same shiny objects issue 😲😖 8y

All my holds came in at once! And I couldn't say no to at least two books of the new releases shelf.

MrBook #NiceStack. You'll have them all read by tomorrow night 😉👍🏻. 8y

Great story. Didn't know what I was getting into when i started listening to it, but I definitely don't regret it. I think it's more compelling and creepy because it takes the supernatural and incorporates it into the scary and creepy of our, not so busy, roadways and of inexplicable human disappearances. Narrated quite well with a few mistakes, but not bad. I hope that there's a sequel to this one soon. I have so many questions!!! 5⭐️s 👻🦌🚛👵🏻

"...Bubba the trucker and Goku the ginger biker..." ???? it's still creepy, but it still has some funny parts.

Ok, went into this one "blind." Didn't expect it to go the way it is going. Quite creepy. So many questions...?

I bought this audiobook for my husband, the truck driver. He really liked it so now it's my turn.

sprainedbrain I picked this one up as a Daily Deal... haven't listened yet. I look forward to hearing what you think of it! 8y

Audible daily deal for $2.95. Sounds like a very interesting read. Couldn't pass it up for the price. It was also rated 4.52 ⭐️s.

Today's Audible Daily Deal... at first glance, I wouldn't think I would have ended up getting this one. Could have been:

1) lack of sleep
2) super low price for a 14+ hour book
3) totally different premise from anything I have read before
4) Bronson Pinchot narrated (he is so good)
5) Good reviews on Audible and Goodreads

In any case, I have a new audiobook! 😃

Megabooks Balki narrates audiobooks!?! You're messing with me! 8y
sprainedbrain @Ebooksandcooks I thought exactly the same thing when I first saw his name on Audible! Then I couldn't believe that people could love Balki as a narrator so much. Then I listened to one he narrated and now I get it. He's awesome! 😂 8y
callunakeep I'm in! Just went and got myself a copy! 8y
