Junie B. Jones Is a Party Animal by Barbara Park is a modern fantasy novel. This book is perfect for young readers. This book is the 10th book in the series and it entails Junie‘s experience of going to Lucille‘s richie nanna‘s House for a sleep over! This book would be good as a read aloud. My teacher would read us these books whenever we had some time in class and we always enjoyed them! An activity is to help Junie pack her bag just like in

Gabylaurel10 The image posted! http://juniebjones.com/media/printables/teachers/010_bags.pdf this chapter book lines up with UDL principles 8.3 by reading aloud as a group to foster collaboration and community especially when asking questions while reading. This book also aligns with the ESOL principle 14 by reading slower for students to understand! #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

"Junie B Jones is a party animal" by Barbara Park, Illustrated by Denise Brunkus. This book is about Junie B Jones first sleepover with her best friends Grace and Lucille. Hosted at Lucille's rich grandmothers house. Junie B Jones is so excited but before she can enjoy the sleepover. Junie B first has to listen to her parents and Do's and Don'ts of sleepovers. Will Junie B Jones be able to handle all the Do's and Don'ts? Or will mischief ensue?

Dbenford I found two websites that could be used for this book. The first website is a word search www.abcteach.com/documents/book-junie-b-jones-is-a-party-animal-primary-16268 and the second is comprehension questions www.teachersnotebook.com/product/eliza-d/junie-b-Jones-is-a-party-animal-comprehension-questions. The UDLs that I choose are 2.1(clarify vocabulary and symbols) and 9.1(promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation). (edited) 7y
Dbenford The ELs that I choose are 4(link lesson topic to students prior knowledge) and 17(provide contextual support through audio visuals, models, demonstrations, realia, body language and facial expressions) This book would be a fun IR, S, or DR that you could do within your classrooms. #UCFLAE3414F17 (edited) 7y
DrSpalding I believe mischief will ensue. 🤣While you are only required to identify one teaching strategy, I agree that this character and this series could be utilized in many ways. 7y

Junie B. Jones Is a Party Animal, written by Barbra Park and illustrated by Denise Brunkus, is a RF book that'd be good for IR. This chapter book is a fun read for older elementary students because the main character is very relatable. This particular book is about Junie B. Jones, who is going to her her friend's rich Nana's house for a sleepover.

KatherineBeckham Junie B. soon realizes that she does not fit in very well at such a fancy house as she begins to cause havoc. UDL Principle 6.1 (guide appropriate goal-setting) is good for this book if it is used as IR. This is because the teacher could help the student self direct their thinking and have them set their own goals for reading at home. ESOL Strategy 38 (assign short readings for homework) would be good to use for this book, (edited) 7y
KatherineBeckham because, if used as an IR, a teacher could assign everyone to read a certain number of chapters in their IR book that night. This website has an example of a comprehension packet that students can fill out while reading this book: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Junie-B-Jones-Is-a-Party-Animal-Nove... #ucflae3414f17 (edited) 7y
MadisonCarter I agree, Katherine. This book is best used for IR. These were just about the only book I would IR as a child 😉 they are so relatable for young girls! 7y

JuliaMurra This was my favorite book series as a young child! They're so fun to read. 7y
DrSpalding I read this series allowed to first and second graders. The readability level is that of 2nd to 3rd graders. Be sure to emphasize Junie's inappropriate behavior as talking points on how to properly behave. 7y
DrSpalding Love the image!🎉 7y
KarinaGuillen When I think about my elementary reading experience, Junie B Jones always comes to mind first! I‘ve read this series time and time again and it never got old! Timeless classics. 7y
