The work written about in this book is valuable and inspiring, but I had a hard time getting through it. There was rather a lot of skimming in the second half of the book.

Give me your examples of “isolated city dwellers” in novels, Litsy!
I am reading this 1910 book and thought, surely there are isolated city dweller stories by now?? Could be good reads!

Loving this early personal look at social justice work, and how different it seemed to the people starting it from their vantage point. It reads like Jane is speaking right to me!
